Literally just teaching a bunch of people the same generic shit so it 'looks good on a resume'.

Edit: I should note that I'm not referencing scientific or medical certifications or anything of that nature. Just random business shit.

At the point where they exist. I have a certification: it's called a college degree that I already spent way too much money on. Now you want me to pay $9000 for some 4 night certification course?! gtfo

Cisco certifications are very reasonable, imo.

$250 or $300 per test, and the books are like $50 - $70 for each exam.

The problem is that they expire. Why can't you just stay certified for a current edition of the exam and leave it to an employer to decide what that's worth?

Yeah, they expire, but passing 1 test renews all equal or lower level certs as long as they're still active.

Also, if you let your certs expire, it doesn't mean the skills you gained from them go away.
