The controls felt loose and bad, the combat was sloppy, the graphics were fine but nothing to rave about (likewise the story), and the rest was just following brightly colored ledges and QTEs, both of which are mechanics that have come to be a burden on gameplay in many titles.

To people who really got into those games: what was it about them that kept you coming back? I mean, obviously your takes on some-to-all of my gripes are different, but what made it fun for you?

Hell I even liked 1 even if it got crazy near the end and well the Jet Moto sections sucked, I sort of miss playing those in some weird way. I think that was just a good time in my life.

The sets in 3 were great but it felt more like a cash in sequel than the previous one. Still a good game though.

Dante described how I felt too. I liked the characters overall.

they're fun games with an entertaining story and really cool action setpieces. basically the video game equivalent of a big summer blockbuster that is just cool to look at.

the only thing "sloppy" about the gameplay of the originals was the aiming being a little odd especially in uncharted 3, but the remastered ports they put out on ps4 fix that problem entirely.

also only the first and last game have qtes.

Uncharted 2 was literally the best looking game on PS3 upon its release.

I dont get the hype either. I played the first one and people told me that it gets a lot better with the second. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and played the second and many told me thats as good as it gets, which put me off playing any of the others because I wasnt that impressed.

they changed the aiming system in uncharted 3 for sure. they did something with the sensitivity of it and the camera that felt very weird, and in the original release a short while after it came out they put out a patch that gave an alternative control option to make aiming more like uc2's because a lot of people were complaining. in the ps4 rerelease of it, it just feels like the other two games by default now.

its a lot more noticeable going from 2 to 3 back to back like i did the first time. everything just felt weirdly off

I was someone who did not play those games on release. I played 1 and 2 late last year and I generally had a miserable to ok time. I imagine if I hadn't played Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 on release and instead only exposed myself to it in the current year, I'd have been just as grumpy.

I just have no strong love for the story or its characters. The only ones I really had any fondness for were Sullivan and Chloe. Drake and Elena are pretty annoying people when they aren't being downright evil to each other. I hear from a lot of people that 3 is where there's the most growth from these two, with 4 capping it off...but right around that time Horizon: Far West came out and I had an excuse not to keep going.

Games are solid but not for me.

It just feels like absolute ass to move the characters around. I'm very much a game feel kind of guy and those games, Last of Us, and RDR2 just immediately feel bad to me the second I start moving around.

I thought they were all enjoyable. Had none of the complaints you have TC.

As for what made it enjoyable, everyone already said it. It has a lot of fun banter (Marvel before Marvel movies), the small touches like Drake flinching when bullets hit near him is neat, and the action is a lot of fun. The set pieces are a good time. I think the gameplay is completely fine, too. It's not breaking boundaries but it is a fully competent 3rd person shooter than can be QUITE difficult for a "movie game hur hur". I like the characters, I think the stories are fun Indiana Jones style stories, and that's really all. They are extremely well made games with good graphics, good gameplay, good characters and good stories. I love Indiana Jones so these were basically the same.

2 > TLL > 4 > 3 >= 1

This.

I'd rank them 4 = 2 > 3 = LL > 1
