so 2. 0 flash drives are just as good or work just as well?

No, you want at least a 3.0

Nah they are still noticeably slower.

What is your opinion on the 3 .1 ones though? I think my ps5 supports those and I use flash drives with it often

What are you using it for? If its anything besides backing up game saves (which I dont think PS5 even lets you do another shitty way to force people to pay for basic shit like cloud saves), copying files to it, or manually updating its firmware, its a bad idea.

Installing games onto a thumb drive is a terrible idea. You would want an external drive for that, or better, just get a bigger one. 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 SSDs were on sale for $129 for Prime Day, and I got two of them. PS5 is compatible with 2280 form factor M.2 SSDs.

i mostly use the flash drives to copy gameplay recording videos to them. i have a lot of them. iirc the ps5 does support saving game save data to a flash drive though. i think the ps5 does suport 3.0 and 3.1 flash drives, not sure though did those samsung prime day ssds come with a heat sink?

You could get them with a heat sink for $10 extra. I got them naked, as motherboards have heat sinks anyway. I would imagine the PS5 has a heat sink. If something has a heat sink already, youd have to take the built-in heat sink off the drive for it to fit the other.

Pretty sure the PS5 has no heatsink
