But in terms of themes, world building, narrative as a whole it's an amazing saga. Very few things released by Disney have reached the same level. His original idea was totally different, and other people working on it too, changed it into what we got for A New Hope. Lucas gets way too much credit for star wars. Similar to marvel and credit going to Stan Lee Lucas came up with the raw idea but he did not make the franchise all by himself. No generation is homogenous obviously, but a lot of the younger people I talk to are not only unfamiliar with most media made before the late 90's or so, they're adamant about keeping it that way. Might be their latent hatred of older generations for screwing the planet / economy / pretty much everything else is seeping into their media interests. The OT from a technical stand point aren't great either and suffer from a lot of the same issues.
