16 years between RotJ and Phantom Menace releases, more than enough time for folks to imagine possibilities, fed by all the interviews done with Lucas where he talked about his vision and plans, not to mention all the EU content in books and games people got invested in, of course it was disappointing when what we got was the prequels. Lucas didn't even create the original movie all by himself. His original idea was totally different, and other people working on it too, changed it into what we got for A New Hope. Lucas gets way too much credit for star wars. Similar to marvel and credit going to Stan Lee Lucas came up with the raw idea but he did not make the franchise all by himself. It could just be me getting older / grumpier or the specific company I keep, but it does seem like the current younger generation has a much stricter cutoff point for older media than Millennials and Gen-X'ers. No generation is homogenous obviously, but a lot of the younger people I talk to are not only unfamiliar with most media made before the late 90's or so, they're adamant about keeping it that way. Might be their latent hatred of older generations for screwing the planet / economy / pretty much everything else is seeping into their media interests. Or they could just be sick to death of us nostalgically jacking off to our favorite comedies / action movies / tv shows from the 80's and 90's. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read https://imgur.com/1WshTZu - by DB_Insider https://imgur.com/eW67nT8 - by Wii_Shaker ... fully grown adult children that don't like the fact that Star Wars was always designed for children and that it was always generic sci-fantasy with a plot and writing about as deep as a puddle trying to butter an entire loaf of bread with a single serve butter packet and for the most part, piss poor acting. at least the world building is great but the movies were always on the mediocre side. also attack of the clones easily the worst out of any of them and empire is overrated as fuck ... but i still love it. --- Tiw - Min scild, min sweord, min rihtwisness, min dryhten ...
