For those saying no, I'd be curious how many are American. In America, you can travel for thousands of miles and still be in America, albeit with a different climate. That same distance in Europe will take you to a different continent, crossing many countries and cultures along the way. That also means it's way easier to go to another country for non Americans.

I am, but I moved to Canada years ago to live with my spouse, and we took a trip to France just recently to see their family. So it isn't that I haven't been to other countries before.

I see youve still not responded.

If you hadnt flown off the handle and got all defensive for no reason then you probably would have understood what I was saying the first time.

Its cool dude, misunderstandings happen. Just maybe bring less anger into it next time.

To an extent. I really dread the idea of going through customs. For Canada/US, it was even worse driving than flying.

If I could just teleport to a place, I'd be a lot more interested. The traveling part of traveling is what kills it for me.
Definitely the worst part of any trip.

I can agree with that. Im not a fan of the actual flying part. Got a long flight the day after tomorrow and I know I wont enjoy it.

Travelling is not something I enjoy in and of itself. I don't wake up and say I want to go to [kountry]. I want to go to something specific and in line with my interests (like amusement parks) that just happen to be in [kountry].

Yeah road trips can be fun for sure. Stopping and eating at random places and sightsseing. For the plane really just takeoff and landing that is entertaining. Its cool when you are close enough to the ground to see land. Otherwise I'm just uncomfortably close to people.

Yeah, I really couldnt care less about traveling. I hate being outdoors and national monuments dont interest me at all, so neither resort setup or seeing the sights interest me at all. You could give me a free trip almost anywhere and Id probably reject it.

I would love to travel internationally but

  • I'm not super expendable at work, so it will be very difficult to fill my role while I'm away.
  • I have a cat who needs care when I'm gone. Don't have any friends or family nearby.

You opened up with expressing that you didn't "believe" my experience (but how dare that make me defensive, right?), and proceeded to argue about how my situation where I have one thing but not the other is somehow drastically different from your situation where I have one thing but not the other (there is zero effective difference)

The only "misunderstanding" is yours. I'm not interested in speaking about this any further with you. If you tag me again, you will be blocked.

I'll never be able to afford to travel within my own country, so the prospect of traveling internationally isn't even a thought in my mind. I don't think I'd enjoy it or really get anything out of it, either. This might sound a bit much but to me, being able to travel is a sign of privilege.

I'd only drink if I could keep drinking on the flight. And then I'd only do it for a long flight to help me sleep

I wont necessarily be hitting the booze, but I find loading up on carbs helps as I cant sleep on planes and it helps me stay awake for longer.

I normally do drink on a long flight with the notion that it will help me sleep but it never does. Ive just resigned myself to the the fact that these kinds of flights mean Im awake for about two days. To be fair, it is a good way of ensuring that I end up on local time when I land.

I fall asleep pretty easily when drinking. Sure I could try zzzquil or something that helps me sleep too but it doesn't do jack for keeping me asleep if there's noise around me. Drunk I can sleep through a lot of things

ANC works by just playing frequencies that cancel out the noise, unfortunately I still have full hearing range and can hear whatever they're cancelling with.

In planes it's very much a distracting static buzz for me.

Yeah, I've always been more of a homebody. I've thought about traveling a few times just to say I've done it, but there's nowhere I really want to visit. I guess I could just go to some random place, but I have no idea what I would do once I get there.

Honestly, even when I've gone on vacation within the US, I feel like I barely want to go anywhere else once I get to my destination. Most of my family wants to constantly run and do everything possible, packing each day as tightly as possible... but I'd much rather just hang out at the pool.
