I grew up in and live 30 minutes from Montpelier. We've had big floods before, but this one is rough. The Wrightsville Dam only has 6 feet of storage capacity left. If water exceeds capacity, the first spillway will release water into the North Branch River. This has never happened since the dam was built so there is no precedent for potential damage. There would be a large amount of water coming into Montpelier which would drastically add to the existing flood damage.

Glad I dont have to deal with that in the Burlington area.

Funny, I just checked out the radar for the greater northeast, and almost refreshed it because I thought it wasn't loading....turns out, I was just able to see the states for the first time in about a week.

Also pretty lucky, I live up on a hill in an area that wasn't hit so hard, so it wasn't bad. A new ditch running down the middle of my driveway is inconvenient, but nothing like what many had to deal with. Extended weather forecasts calling for more and more rain from Thursday on, hopefully things won't get much worse.

Im a Winooski resident myself, though if youre going to tell me Im wrong about how bad it is Ive been cooped up in the hospital for 2 days (as a visitor not a patient) so I havent really witnessed the weather.

I'm sure somewhat surprised I haven't heard more about southern Vermont, but I the trend of the storm was north. I'm, thinking that stream in West Brattleboro.
