"Firefox 115: new ESR base and some add-ons may be blocked from running on certain sites"
https://www.ghacks.net/2023/07/04/firefox-115-new-esr-base-and-some-add-ons-may-be-blocked-from-running-on-certain-sites/

Firefox users who run add-ons that are not monitored by Mozilla may notice a new notification in Firefox when they visit certain sites. The notification informs them that "some extensions are not allowed" and were blocked from running on that site.
Mozilla writes on a support page: "As of Firefox version 115, we have introduced a new back-end feature to only allow some extensions monitored by Mozilla to run on specific websites for various reasons, including security concerns".
Mozilla makes no mention of the scope of this and the support article is extremely vague. The change is called Quarantined Domains by Mozilla.
Firefox users may undo the change in the following way:
  • Load about:config in the Firefox address bar.
  • Click Accept the Risk and Continue, if the prompt appears.
  • Search for extensions.quarantinedDomains.enabled.
  • Set it to FALSE.
  • Restart Firefox.
Mozilla should consider publishing detailed information about the blocking in which it reveals all blocking rules.

Thank you for the heads up.

I am still on FF114 but as soon as it is updated when I can be bothered doing it I will be doing what you have typed.

I have been doing that about:config for every "new feature" translated every piece of fucking shit Mozilla has been doing to Firefox.

I swear Mozilla is hell bent on destroying Firefox.

At this point it's just easier to install LibreWolf than to undo all of Mozilla's changes

I'm on FF 115 and nothing's out of the ordinary. This might apply to the ESR build, specifically for older OS' like Windows 7/8.

Looking at extensions.quarantinedDomains.list in FF115.1 (which came up at the same time that I was typing in "extensions.quarantined", it doesn't seem to me like this change is as nefarious as people are thinking it might be, at least for right now; it seems quite limited to a few niche domains. But it's possible that it extends further than it appears to me; I'm not really well-versed in this sort of browser backdoor stuff.

110% agree with you on that.

Total clickbait and scaremonger thread title.

Just upgraded to FF 115.0.1 and everything is working as normal.
