You seem to assume that Playstation will eventually not be x86. Again, Nintendo is the only relevant console vendor being weird.

Microsoft does it all the time! They had the COD exclusivity deal before Sony! They can easily outspend Sony as seen by their most recent purchases. People are in this very topic arguing that it's good Microsoft partakes in the same exact business practices because fuck Sony and I don't see you going "Well, no it's still wrong to cheer on even if Sony has made a couple more purchases than them in the last 25 years." You're not making any sense.

And I do care about Microsoft stuff. I haven't said I'm protesting their decisions. I'm dying for Starfield. I love Forza Horizon 5. You seem to forget that my problem was people excusing Microsoft, not people criticizing Sony.

The only defense I'm seeing for exclusivity deals and purchases is "well Sony does it worse". How is that not defending one side doing it?

I say Sony's acquisitions brought less attention because they were essentially already first-party studios and that's "defense". But "Microsoft eats a few less babies than Sony or Nintendo, so they're comparatively good" is "context". I haven't defended a single Sony decision in this topic unless you consider liking Uncharted to be one.

We're doing the stupid fucking thing where a bunch of people accuse someone of something that isn't true and then go "Haha see called it" when they try to defend themselves. Gonna call me a hypocrite and an enlightened centrist and compare me to sacks of shit on this site. I'm not taking such slander over video game business practices. Oh but saying that proves I'm a "narcissist". But if I think lowly of myself I'm "depressed" and a "nihilist"

This is a weird bit.

COD had the timed dlc exclusive for both companies, first Microsoft, then Sony.

Now that the Sony contact is expiring, Bobby Kotick has been vocally very angry with Sony about the deals he's made with them and it's the main driver the him selling to Microsoft.

Why do you suppose that is?

Microsoft's CoD "exclusivity" deal back in the 360 days only gave them access to map packs about a month before PS3 got them

Meanwhile Sony's exclusivity deal locked ENTIRE GAME MODES to PlayStation platforms for a WHOLE YEAR. The competition didn't even get to play the full game until the next year's CoD was already out!

It is fair in context, but it's also wrong. That these companies can have multi-billion dollar wars shows how fucked up our society is. I'm not actually saying any words that defend Sony. I said I had a problem with exclusives and greed and you all went "Yet you still buy video games! Curious." and dragged me for it.

If someone said all video games are the same these days and I disagreed, would you call me a pro-corporate hypocrite? But I say "Sony games are definitely not all the same" and I'm a blind fanboy. Disagreeing with an untrue statement is not rejecting constructive criticism. It would be like saying Doom Eternal is indistinguishable from Battlefield 2042. Am I a Bethesda or EA shill for disagreeing? You don't want me to disagree and convince you otherwise. You want to laugh at my "obvious" blindspot.

I truly don't even remember what practices of Sony I have vocally defended in the past while criticizing others for doing the same. "You mock people for defending hentai games, yet criticize Microsoft for buying companies" is not an example of hypocrisy.

Nope. Still genuinely confused about where I'm always defending Sony. Reminds me of that time I was accused of being a secret Trumpist because I wasn't quoting enough Trumpist posts for criticism.

Forgive me for not realizing a joke topic one time and taking it seriously. Why the hell would I be a fanboy? That doesn't track with any of my stated beliefs or views. And how does that make me a bad person or comparable to the vile shitstains masquerading as humans that get perpetually banned? I thought I was supposed to be the one taking video games too seriously?

It's not clear. The UK litigation has a date of August so I don't know what's going on there.

The last update I have is that they resubmitted the application with some "material changes" presumably to placate the cloud gaming issues CMA had.

You remember every post I've made in the past not being mad enough at Sony, yet you somehow have never seen me call anyone a variation of "shitstain" before right now, talking about some random CE shitposters? Hmm, I wonder why your memory is so selective.

People have been vocally supporting Microsoft in this topic and you have been silent. I didn't criticize Sony enough in the past and you can't stop talking about it. You know for a fact that all the people defending this would do the same if Sony or Nintendo did it? That they have no biases? I'm the only one? I need to shut up and stop having opinions until I permanently boycott the entire video game industry to prove that I actually hate business practices?

I was wrong to assume Kyle was a Microsoft shill, but he defended them and even suggested this is good. I can't even prove he is telling the truth, but I didn't press the issue.

But I guess I need to delete my signature so I can be allowed to share opinions. Perhaps GameFAQs should just ban signatures so no one can ever suggest that they enjoy something, and thus make everyone assume it is impossible for them to have fair discussions on any related subject.

I assume you will now be in every political topic, reminding me how much of a "biased hypocrite" I am if my criticisms don't seem equally critical and angry enough towards all sides at all times?

We're going to reach 500 posts without anyone actually explaining how exclusivity deals are pro-consumer. "It's legal and everyone does it, some worse than others" just tells us why it happens, but every industry is legally and competitively fucking over the consumer every day. It doesn't make it any more consumer-friendly. I have not once judged anyone for buying Microsoft games or suggested that Microsoft is uniquely bad for participating.

It's a dishonest question. Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft didn't get to their position by being pro-consumer. They got to their position by being aggressive and convincing people to buy their platforms.

Gamers aren't looking for pro-consumer platforms. They're looking for the platforms with the best games.

And you don't see the problem with that? That might be the way of the world, but is it good that consumers and workers are entirely powerless and that we are slaves to the brutal, unchecked greed of multi-billion dollar corporations? The people who actually make the entertainment that keeps us going through life earn a fraction of the money that corporations drain from us for said entertainment.

How is it not? The games aren't going to come to Sony and Nintendo forever. A bunch of third-party studios are now first-party and their IPs will go the same way. I'm not saying it's worse than anyone else doing it, just that it is literally happening.

Do we really need any exclusives to any platform? Plenty of electronic devices and other hardware sell just fine without exclusive content. Streaming is bad enough as is. Imagine if Samsung bought Netflix or Hulu or whatever and locked it to their TVs as a way to entice consumers.

Because they agreed under oath to bring games to more platforms with parity meaning no more timed dlc exclusives. It's the opposite of an exclusivity deal.

What's going to happen after 10 years is too far ahead to properly guess. Maybe cloud gaming will be more popular. Maybe CoD will lose popularity. You can bet Sony is going to start preparing now in order to have a potential replacement for CoD if it does get pulled. And maybe it'll become more popular than CoD.

Killzone was designed to beat Halo. Did it matter that it didn't?

Fortnite ended up being more popular than COD. From Epic that Sony invests a lot of money in.

10 years is a long time. Microsoft hasn't even owned Minecraft for 10 years. Who knows how things will look in 10 years and there's no guarantee Microsoft will take COD exclusive after then anyway. It's a huge revenue driver as a multiplatform game like Minecraft.

I doubt Microsoft is going to do anything controversial with COD for at least a decade. It's not worth being used as an example for future acquisitions for the company.

It being on Game Pass is enough of an advantage. Otherwise they get the high revenue.
