Spoiler = second time skip (5 years) after you destroy Drake's Head.

There's a whole bunch of extra shit that gets unlocked or introduced immediately after that wasn't there before the "no return" point.

I'd say the intro was the stuff showing young Clive and Joshua up to the title drop, then after that an extended segment to get you used to the gameplay structure before settling you in and introducing more stuff to do.

I'm used to RPGs taking a while to introduce all the gameplay elements thanks to Xenoblade.

I found it funnier that he didn't level up at all

The unlock for the "state of the realm" or whatever it was unlocked then. I thought that was kind of weird to wait so late.

My favourite part of this is that you immediately start being awarded that renown "currency" with literally zero explanation as to what it is and no way to actually check it out until you unlock the npc it's associated with.

Yes that was one of the other things that came to mind. Both things that you can read through with Vivian have no real reason not to have been available from the beginning.

I dunno, I feel like it kind of makes sense given that you don't get access until Clive is in charge.

Honestly I really liked this.

It made me feel like Clive was actually in charge. Before it made more sense for Cid to deal with all of this. Plus you had literally just *officially* joined him. Maybe if things stayed the same, you would have had access to the same things.
