Goldeneye is peak 60s Bond. Super fun, great quotes "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die" is probably the all time most recognizable quote from a Bond villain.

I'm assuming you meant Goldfinger?

Skyfall is probably my favorite, but I do like most of the other Craig and Brosnan movies too. I don't think the campiness of the movies before then ever really clicked for me.

Fuck, now I'm getting the itch to watch all the Bond films so I can rank them lol. I got the Bond 50th Collection as proper decoration on top of my movies shelves.
Love that set. When it came out it was my entry to the franchise. Just a beautifully presented set. Good think I enjoyed the series as well.

My favorite fluctuates but right now I think Id have to say Goldfinger which funnily enough I was unimpressed when I first saw it but I blame that on watching them in order and didnt like taking a break from the SPECTRE plot that was a running thread in the early movies.

Other favorites are From Russia With Love(original favorite), On Her Magestys Secret Service (Bad Bond wonderful everything else), and Tomorrow Never Dies (most fun to watch).

I dont know why but Ive never been able to love Goldeneye the way many do. I recognize II as a really well done film, I just dont enjoy it as much for some reason.

Original worst for me was Diamonds are Forever which just felt lower quality than everything that came before it. On a rewatch Thunderball became my bottom choice for sheer boredom.

Since its been discussed I dont mind Moonraker at all. Best case of being silly without being bad. Jaws going from being the Terminator in the previous movie to Wile E Coyote in this one is my favorite part.

I haven't watched them all in a while, but these stand out for me.

  1. Goldeneye
  2. License to Kill
  3. FRWL
  4. OHMSS
  5. TSWLM
  6. FYEO
  7. TWINE
I really like Dr. No, LaLD, and Goldfinger, so they would round out the top ten, but they have really slow, boring parts that put them lower on my list.

The Living Daylights. Dalton is my favorite and the movie is great and full of great action scenes. People don't care for the villains, but I like the duplicitous Koskov and the military wannabe arms dealer Whitaker. Necros is one of the best henchman and has an awesome scene too. The scene with Bond and General Pushkin is one of the best scenes in the series. The theme song is awesome too.

From Russia With Love, Goldeneye, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Dr. No, License To Kill, and Live and Let Die are my other favs. I like all of the Bond movies to a degree besides some of the Craig ones. Still haven't seen the last one because of all the disappointment with Spectre and with how they did the Craig tenure as a whole.

On Moonraker, I really enjoyed it. The story was off-kilter, the final phase of the movie was weird, and Drax was kind of a nothing... but scenery and set design are imprinted in my brain. The cable car chase high in the mountains was so good. Drax's lair is just this towering imposing set... used for like a single scene.

I need to watch it again.

Bond opinions for each Bond

Connery: Goldfinger > From Russia With Love > Dr. No > You Only Live Twice > Never Say Never Again > Thunderball > Diamonds Are Forever

Moore: The Spy Who Loved Me > Moonraker > A View to a Kill > Octo***** > For Your Eyes Only > Live and Let Die > The Man With the Golden Gun

Dalton: The Living Daylights > Licence to Kill

Brosnan: Goldeneye >> the rest (should try and watch them again, but just really don't want to - TND puts me to sleep, DAD rankles my brain, and TWiNE I've seen three times and recall ZERO things)

Craig: Casino Royale > No Time to Die > Skyfall > Quantum of Solace > Spectre

One-off: OHMSS >>>>>>>>> Casino Royale '67

On The Man With the Golden Gun, mostly terrible memories of the worst villain lair. It's a bad carnival laser tag lair manned entirely by a single solitary stumblebum. It has the most inept and clumsy Bond girl. There's a random karate school. There's a huge build up to an infiltration using a third nipple that drowns immediately. If it didn't have Christopher Lee, there would be almost nothing redeeming. Nick Nack was hit-and-miss.

At least Lee and Ekland had a much better film with The Wicker Man a year earlier.

Edit: And I just remembered J.W. Pepper was here again. The loop-de-loop is great despite his presence.

Neither does Casino '67, which is objectively the worst ever.

NSNA is a better Connery Bond movie than Thunderball. Thunderball has a better theme song, Domino is better, and the water scenes would be better... if they didn't drag on forrreeeevvveeer.

Never Say Never Again is better paced, the villains are more well-acted and positioned, and has hokey 80s technology somehow adding to it rather than torpedoing it completely.

Thunderball is completely forgettable until the water scenes, and then water scenes drag out infinitely longer than Tom Jones holds that final note until he passed out.

TWINE gets dunked on a lot but I think it's the second best of the Brosnan era. Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist is ridiculous, and the villain being campy like the old ones is silly, but I liked it overall. The caviar set piece is great.

Certainly far, far better than Die Another Day. That movie is garbage. And TND I feel actually is a bit more relevant today what with manipulative media being a big problem.

Casino Royale
GoldenEye
The Spy Who Loved Me
On Her Majesty's Secret Service

More people need to give OHMSS a fair shot, ignore the fact that it's the "one with George Lazenby in it". It is still bizarre the they dubbed his voice for parts of the film. Thankfully, it's reputation is improving these days as more and more people see that it's actually a really good film.

Tomorrow Never Dies.

The villain is the head of a newspaper company and he's trying to provoke a war between two countries so that his media company can cover news on it. Ahead of its time really. Plus the action scenes are amazing.

If we are talking Craig era, Spectre is my personal favorite. I know a lot of people would choose Casino Royale, but Spectre had so much good plot points happening.

And I think we can all agree Quantum of Solace was his worst, that movie didn't even make fucking sense. Which actually does make sense when you think about it because it was filmed during a writer's strike and Craig has openly admitted to having to have to write some of the movie while they were shooting... not exactly the best circumstances lol.

It's more forgettable to me. I only saw it once in the theaters though, but I forgot a lot not long afterwards and it gave no reason to rewatch it. For me Spectre is the worst because of the stupid and tired cliche that went all Austin Powers. It went full circle there.

Electra being the real villain in the end was a nice twist. I think it's just that him not being able to feel pain is similar to some of the zany villains of the older era. It's the only one in modern times with any camp to him, really. Unless we count crying blood lol

It was. I think some camp is needed for James Bond. Even the more serious Bond movies of the past still had their campy elements. The Craig films were too dry for the most part. I think the "British Jason Bourne" comparisons were valid.
