Every day you get a new grid. You ONLY get 9 guesses, and you can't use the same player in two different squares (for example, yesterday's grid had the Pirates on one axis and the Giants and 100+ RBI season on the other. I accidentally used Barry Bonds on the 100+ RBI, so I couldn't use him on PIT/SF)

I finally got a 9/9 today!

Really makes you second guess everything you think you know about baseball

i'm way worse at this than i expected. my best so far (yesterday) (out of 5 or 6 tries) has been 6, and that included the local team. the others have been no better than 3.

and i've been watching baseball for more than 30 years. =( bad memory is bad.

I'm a National League guy (Cubs) so when the grid is all American League teams, I'm really bad.

I got 4, the left column for all the Braves and the Yankee's 300 win pitcher. Not hardly as into baseball as I am hockey, but I know the Braves and a few other teams pretty well, especially more the 90s era.

Fun game. Got 9/9, although I made things tough on myself for naming Maddux as the Brave with 300 wins (should have said Glavine and named Maddux as the gold glover with 300 wins).

Here were my answers got a rarity score of 220:

Royals/Braves = Jermaine Dye
Royals/Yanks = Johnny Damon
Royals/Gold Glove = Frank White
Dodgers/Braves = Freddie Freeman
Dodgers/Yanks = Kevin Brown
Dodgers/Gold Glove = Mookie Betts
300 wins/Braves = Greg Maddux
300 wins/Yanks = Randy Johnson
300 wins/Gold Glove = Steve Carlton

Yeah, you have to keep yourself from jumping into answers like that.

My solution (1-9):

1: Jorge Soler
2: Johnny Damon
3: Salvador Perez
4: Freddie Freeman
5: Ron Coomer (0.06%)
6: Clayton Kershaw
7: Tom Glavine
8: Roger Clemens
9: Greg Maddux

Rarity Score: 332

Yeah first time playing this so decided to go randomly instead of focusing on the easier ones.

Went with
Braves/Dodgers = Freddie Freeman
Yankees/Dodgers = Joey Gallo
Gold Glove/Dodgers = Mookie Betts
Braves/300 wins = Greg Maddux
Yankees/300 wins = Roger Clemens

missed on the rest of them.

Went 7/9 today. Went with two answers that I thought were a pair of gimmies and missed them both (said Rickey Henderson and Barry Larkin for the 200 hit guys in Oakland and Cincy). Was shocked that neither was right.

ChiSox are my team, so those were simple for me.

My answers, with a rarity score of 519:

Orioles/Cards = Skipped
Orioles/Sox = Roberto Alomar (4%)
Orioles/200 Hits = Cal Ripken Jr (91%)
Reds/Cards = Scott Rolen (46%)
Reds/Sox = Adam Dunn (29%)
Reds/200 Hits = Skipped
As/Cards = Mark McGwire (56%)
As/Sox = Frank Thomas (20%)
As/200 Hits = Miguel Tejada (73%)

Really really really pissed at myself for not thinking of Pete Rose immediately. That was a no brainer, and I thought of a wrong answer first.

I tend to get pretty good rarity scores on my grids because a majority of my Non-Mets MLB knowledge comes from collecting baseball cards in the 1990s and early 2000's, so I tend to use players from back then.

Like, on today's grid the most popular .300 hitters were Ripken, D. Wright, and Ichiro. Meanwhile, my grid was Aubrey Huff (0.09%), Hubie Brooks (0.10%), and Bret Boone (2%).

Oriole/300 average = Roberto Alomar (1.0%)
Met/Cub = Turk Wendell (0.6%)
Met/Guardian = Sandy Alomar Jr (0.9%)
