It's "temporary" so even if it causes such an outrage that they have to bring it back sooner, he's going to pretend that the temporary measure was over.

Actually, it looks more like hes desperately trying to save it, but has no idea what hes doing. Instead of improving the servers or doing any of the stuff the old crew did to keep it properly maintained, hes slapping band-aids on every little crack.

The system is being overloaded with tweets and its causing slowdowns. His solution was to just make it so people cant tweet as much, because he has no fucking clue how to actually fix the problem.

If you're viewing 600 tweets a day, perhaps you are spending too much time on it. Mine's usually around 3-5 tweets couple times a week.

From what I've heard, it counts all replies toward the total limit as soon as you click on the parent post, so you can hit the limit instantly as soon as you read a tweet with a lot of replies.

idk I haven't had that issue yet. Still can go on the site and see stuff when I click on an embedded tweet but only if I feel like scrolling 4-5 replies beyond the OP is when I get a sign up screen.

I can see embedded tweets, but nothing on twitter itself.

its about how much tweets youve loaded into your session, if you see 5 tweets on your timeline, theres still more preloaded for you to scroll down to, so 600 can really just be a few clicks, i think it would be easy to hit by accident.

If you have 50 posts per page here thats basically clicking 10 gamefaqs threads

This shit is busted. I've gotten the "you are rate limited" pop up a couple times but it's mostly "Something's wrong. Try reloading", which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Depends who and your contract. In most cases, nothing will change because you only pay per click or impression. However some ad agencies may collect an upfront payment that may have to issue refunds for not being able to guarantee a certain amount of impressions now.

If Twitter leads were a major source of revenue you might also be pissed there.

When I open up Twitter I can see 3-4 tweets on the screen as soon as the page loads. So are you just opening up Twitter, looking at what's there at that given moment, then closing it without touching anything?

I'd question why you're even opening Twitter up at all if that's your experience.

Generically, it's using bots/scripts/etc. to visit lots of pages and take information off of it.

E.g. I could write a script that went to every active topic on CE and pull the text from it. If I were a real user visiting all of those pages, gfaqs would gladly serve it, but the bot is pulling data at a faster rate than a person would and you can imagine if all of us were running bots to do this (say if I was doing this so I would get a notification every time mentioned "data scraping" on the site), it would dramatically increase the traffic but would not increase the number of users, ad clickthroughs, etc.

Idk if that makes sense or not.

Bluesky can't get up and functioning fast enough for me.

You can easily hit that if you expand a tweet and it has a ton of replies. Whether or not you read them, they still load thus making up some of the 600.
