Context: work at Pizza Hut.

So I get into work at like 4ish, right? I get a call about 6. A complaint. The lady said her pizza melts were 'black as coal, hard, and inedible'. I look up her phone number in the system, the order was placed at 10am, right around opening. A delivery, paid with card. I questioned her about this, she says 'oh, well I fell asleep while I was deciding if I should call or not'. Alright, sure.

She ordered some of our new cheesesteak melts and some sodas.

She then explained to me that she couldn't eat it, and instead, fed it to her dogs.

Immediately, alarm bells from being a dog owner go off. The cheesesteak melt has onions and garlic in it, as well as a ton of cheese.

That's really bad for dogs. Specifically garlic and onions. I told her this right away, she seemed confused. I told her she needs to take her dogs to the vet ASAP because that stuff is toxic to dogs, and out melts are loaded with sauce and toppings. Burnt or not, they're toxic to dogs.

She said 'oh, but they look fine now...anyway, I wanted to get a refund'. I stress how important it is that a dog shouldn't be eating such a thing and if they did, they NEED to go to the vet.

She shrugs it off and asks about a full refund. Now, my last manager is a stickler for details, no way she'd let a burnt to a crisp melt out of the oven and serve it. Not to mention how nonchalantly she shrugged off the idea that her dogs just ate stuff toxic to them. I was thinking 'oh, so she's just trying to scam us'.

She says 'I don't want to have to bring this up to corporate, but...' I told her that I couldn't really do anything about her situation other than apologize and suggest she take her dogs to the vet. At this time, we were extremely busy so I told her I had to attend to the store, gave her my name, apologized again, and said she can call corporate.

Some people, CE. Sheesh!

100% trying to scam a refund.
She ate those melts.

Ph, most definitely. I was legitimately worried too, especially that she didn't seem to care about her dogs in the scenario she painted out. No panic or alarm in her voice at all. Just 'oh, okay, but refund...'.

Bleh. Lame.

Its just pizza. As many have told you time and time again, these stupid little power plays you get into with customers are not making you out to be the hero you think you are. Just get over yourself and give her the damn refund

Honestly, more often than not, it's just a way for them to feel they have power over you. My favorite is asking your name. Like, is my name gonna change how you're trying to scam us or...?

Are the melts good? For $6 Ive been wanting to try one but Im angry at our local Pizza Hut.

Terrible scammer.

Honestly from the few times I've had terrible customer service, I generally just want the ordered mitigated. I also generally have the food in front of me.

She probably re-heated them in her oven and burned them.

I'd say they're pretty good. They're crispy and nice for like a little lunch. I like the pepperoni one myself ngl.

Like... how is this a power play? And while I've seen Slayer criticized for some things on here I've never seen him doing that..

He literally once escalated an incident so bad the police had to get involved because of his ego. That's not only poor management, in these times, that's just wreckless. This is basically his gimmick and I'm not sure who he thinks is impressed lol

I dont see mention of the police in the OP

Always loved the people trying to get free food, it was way too easy to tell who was really complaining and who just wanted free shit. Wed always make notes in the system.

also, I dont know anything about dogs but if I had just poisoned mine Id be forever grateful that you saved him and Id probably throw in a compliment to your uppers

Lots of places require you to return the improperly made food or at least what's left of it in order to get a refund or have it remade. It cuts down on people trying yo get free shit like this lady.

Bro, it's reckless lol. And that incident was decided, upon the police arriving, to be well within my rights and I was told to do so by my bosses.

Right? You can tell instantly 9/10.

And yeah, I'd be eternally grateful. I legitimately told her I was saying it not as an employee, but as a concerned dog owner myself that she needs to take her dogs to the vet. She just didn't care, which made me think the whole thing was just fake.

In a similar situation, I'd be extremely grateful. That sort of situations can be scary.
