which other social media platform gets the kind of constantly streaming updates from influential people that twitter gets? none of them. instagram is just food and travel and OF bait pics, nothing substantial. facebook is a bunch of boomers saying racist shit that people somehow respond to but no one actually watches the ads. Twitter is current events, celebrity blogs, streaming information of the war in Ukraine which has been reportedly restricted since Musk took over, for some politicians it's the *only* official channel they regularly use.

Microsoft can't buy Activision without a months long world spanning investigation but the richest man in the world buys the biggest social media platform with no scrutiny?

alright yeah I had to look up the numbers. I didn't think that many people still used facebook..even though I still do for basically no reason. my feed is like 98% sponsored videos.

The trouble is that it's not even close to the biggest platform. Snapchat, Instagram, Tiktok, YouTube, FB all have more active users, in some cases magnitudes more.

How about no. Those of us with critical thinking skills can normally see that they said exactly what they meant. Them waiting for the response before deciding if it was a joke or exaggeration is predictable.

Elon might never be president himself but he could easily buy one given another entire term and election cycle with a republican president
