Actually, I can't even make that joke facetiously. This is just not correct.

FFS, that's why I said most. Uvalde is not what normally happens. Fuck those officers.

Shadow_Don posted...
ok if your argument is that the police, who we spend an absurd amount of money on to arm and train, would make the situation that they are most urgently needed for worse then just fucking abolish the police.
No... I'm saying that I'd rather have officers go in that will actually put a stop to the shooter (and thankfully other officers did). Whereas I feel that an officer that is too scared to go in, won't actually be of any use.

And to be clear, I do agree with the fact that he lost his job and that he shouldn't be in law enforcement anymore. But I've also seen in other topics that people want him to suffer. It's a weird bloodlust.

Can't blame a corpse, so blame him.

I mean, if I screw up or don't do my job the way I'm trained/instructed the blame is on me.

Cruz didn't die. The dude literally just strolled away to a Walmart where he bought a drink at Subway, then went to McDonald's and then sat with the brother of one of his victims after he killed these people due to this dude's inaction.

There were hundreds of them from half a dozen or more different departments and agencies.

Now that is one amazing coincidence that if "most" officers arent like this that hundreds of them were on that scene.

Or maybe the better explanation is that police culture across the board is rotten and that starts with us not holding them accountable.

Yea people usually get blamed when their failure results in the deaths of children.

No other kinds of work gets this bullshit excuse. If a fire department just stood there and watched an elementary school burn to the ground with children inside that entire department wouldn't live to see the trial. Cops get special treatment though.

His defense was that he didn't know where the shooter was and was waiting for someone to give him information on his location, even though he was first on the scene, so I guess he was hoping faculty or students would call him.

Which of course was why he was still fucking hiding 40 minutes after it was all over.

And people treating this coward like a 19 year old rookie is beyond pathetic.. He was a 60 year DEPUTY SHERIFF.

At least it completely destroys the "we need armed guards" bullshit. So...they can go hide?

Fine. Now use this as precedent to get resource officers, etc out of schools. If their entire purpose was to stop school shootings, and they legally don't have to, they are an absolute fucking waste of money.

I know someone trying to bring charges against our sheriff for chasing a guy (in his personal clothes and vehicle without identifying himself) and then ended up shooting the guy's dog.

I think the argument the city had against charging him is "the sheriff is never off-duty" or some shit.

Man, people are really piling on the hate for this guy.

But that's not the precedent being set here. Most officers do immediately head towards the shooter. It's tragic what happened in Parkland, but would you really want someone that's panicking to rush in with a gun in their hands? That could just make the whole situation worse.

most cops absolutely don't engage. some do, while many don't. uvalde had an entire team of cowards that just sat around and listened to kids get massacred.
