I forgot to mention, this is the job I plan on leaving soon myself. They don't know, but I'm close to putting in my 2 weeks.

Now, I'm no manager, so me leaving might not even seem like a big deal at that point, but damn, this team is suffering some major blows. This isn't even the "post-bonus" timeframe either where people typically leave since they got their bonus, and they don't want to stick around for another busy season. Usually, 1 or 2 people leave during that period. Who knows, maybe this time no one will leave outside of me and the 3 managers that got fired.

The word "opportunity" keeps getting brought up, but I'm already peeved about not getting the promotion to Senior Associate. Like hell am I going to be picking up "manager responsibilities" on an Associate's salary, lmao. I was already dumb enough to put in all the hours I did in the first place for what ended up being for no reason. I would have to be an absolute unevolved primitive to do that to myself again.

Wait, do you work for one of the Big 4 CPA firms? I think I might know which one you're talking about, but yeah there has been some downsizing happening with some CPA firms lately. I'm glad mines isn't, but I can't help but feel it will inevitably happen.

I do, but I don't think it's for the reason you're thinking. This is not an economic decision/performance-related. Considering how hush-hush things are, and how vague the partners are, and how they keep saying things like "I'm sure details will eventually come out, but let's try to keep this to ourselves" I think this had to do with ethics.

I haven't put in my 2 weeks yet, but I have been planning on doing so for a few weeks now. Want to do it mid-July so I can have a nice clean break end of the month.

This... well, it feels like if I was asking for signs for why I shouldn't do such a big decision, life was validating my feelings.
