How would that even be possible if the implosion increased the temperature inside the sub to around the level of the sun? Wouldn't that just completely disintegrate them?

maybe it just too short of a period of time for it to do that

lightning can reach 50,000F and people have been struck by that with their remains intact (some people even survive)

Surely most people meant the sort of remains that could be put in a coffin rather than bits that were probably flash-melded to the debris.

good point. Theyve literally created things hotter than the sun in labs and the world didn t end.
