Kinda sad to see all the goodwill they bought with Witcher 3 come crashing down with Cyberpunk. Saw this in a reddit thread and no one was believing them, saying it's all lip service when they really want to fix the relationship with their investors/parent company or whatever

Hey, if they really pulled their act together and this cyberpunk DLC is incredible, people will eventually come back around. But everyone has a right to be critical and statements alone aren't going to buy people back.

so do it. keep making cyberpunk as good as you can.

Well, they're still a very small studio compared to some AAA giants and Witcher 3 definitely punched way above it's weight.

They had the best intentions with Cyberpunk, but the game gained so much traction and hype that everyone expected it to be the greatest ever, which was impossible to achieve with their deadlines and lack of manpower.

Right now Cyberpunk is a completely different game than it was at the release, at least on PC.
Phantom Liberty will overhaul ever more things and I'd say that it's a game everyone should give a shot.

I've actually been meaning to play it, just waiting for the right price point/sale. The TV show was pretty dope

And there probably will be for another game or two. Goodwill is easily broken and hard to restore, but that was the compromise they chose to make by releasing a completely unplayable game on last gen consoles, which no doubt contributed to why it was so buggy on current gen consoles and pc.

Witcher had two expansions that took 30 hours total to complete at normal pace. Phantom Liberty will be more or less the same.

TW2 was also GOTY level game, it's just that the franchise wasn't as popular back then. Everything they did before Cyberpunk was more or less perfect in terms of caring about the playerbase.

Cyberpunk was a massive fuckup, but a lot of devs would've just given up on the game and moved on, instead they reworked almost every bad mechanic and right now the game is what it should've been on the release. I'll give it another run when the expansion comes out, because that patch will rebalance all the builds again.

Most importantly, they never had any microtransactions in any of their games. Not even in standalone Gwent game and we know how card games usually leech money off the playerbase.

cdpr has never made a good game and gog is a third tier platform

They should make the cyberpunk expansion free then

Yeah, gaming has been on a steady decline for years.
Imo, hardware improvements have been the death of it.
All we talk about is framerate, visual fidelity, DLSS this, Raytracing that and if you look at 2023 AAA game mechanics and gameplay, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and a 2013 game if not for improved visuals.

Idk maybe that's what people enjoy, but I play games for good gameplay mechanics, character dvelopment and story, not for graphics. I'll watch a movie if I'm into cinematic experience.
