Just got to the beach area after doing all the difficult end game sidequests.

This is what RPGs should be.

My only problem with the game, though it's a big one, is that there's no effect of any kind to mark elevation changes in the sprite work. So there's a ton of places in the game where I can't tell where I am or where I'm allowed to go because the terrain isn't being conveyed well enough. Severely hurt my enjoyment of the game and is why I ended up never finishing it.

Everything else was really cool though.

Others don't get to dictate what's normal and what isn't. It's something we decide for ourselves.

Sometimes I'd check elevation by trying to throw a projectile at where I'm going - if it flies over it's the same height or lower, if it bounces off I'm higher. You also just sort of get used to the terrain layout vibes over time. agree it's the main negative of the game though

It was six dollars on Steam yesterday. Cheapest I've ever saw it, but I just can't get myself to try it. I feel like the puzzles are going to make me rage quit even if there is apparently some difficulty slider added in by now.

I have it reinstalled on Steam, with intent to replay from the beginning. Haven't played in over a year.

The puzzles are mostly timing things. It's easy to figure out what to do but you have to make it to certain checkpoints at certain times to trigger certain effects and that's the hard part.

It was my GotY last year

It's so good. It truly feels like a AAA-made RPG. Made in the SNES era

I do think the story takes a moment to pick up, and doesn't have a satisfying ending unless you get the DLC.

I nearly 100% it, including the Arena, which was hard as fuck

It is a very puzzle heavy game, both dungeon wise and combat wise. The game eases you in excellently without saying much beyond the tutorial
