Man, I really wish we could phase out having most houses with grass yards. Put in rock gardens or sand instead. Every moment of the day, I hear mowers and leaf blowers and weed whackers. Its annoying to the people, it distresses the neighborhood critters, and its a breeding ground for biting bugs.

The heat from the gas-powered motors collectively heats the atmosphere even more. This stirs up bugs so theyre constantly getting in your house. Its just another chore that doesnt really accomplish anything and it can get you in trouble if you dont cut it.

Cant wait to play with the kids in the rock yard.

I'm all for doing away with traditional yards, but please don't fill up your yard with rocks unless you live in a desert.
Imagine the next person trying to grow a garden but has to remove all these damn rocks.

Thee ants dont care what the top of the lawn looks like as long as there is soil underneath.

Rocks arent a good replacement for a bunch of reasons but but switching to something like clover which only grows to a certain height and is easy to take out might be.

People should go with a natural lawn, what that means differs depending on where you live.

Here, instead of grass it should be shrubs, certain mosses and/or clover.

Making such a lawn is lower maintenance and uses significantly less water.

As I've finally been tackling weeds this season by pulling (no chemicals to kill or etc) clover seems to be instantly occupying the new space which has been great

Yeah my backyard is like 20% clover this year

Need to work on pumping those numbers up

If you live in a place where clover is natural? It's fantastic. Once it establishes itself it can out compete weeds far better than grass ever could.
