Occasionally. They usually wander off again when I ignore them.

Yeah, I had two come by last year during a garage sale. Pretty young, maybe 19 or 20. They weren't bad, honestly. I told them no thanks, took a pamphlet to throw away, and they moved on.

yeah, every few months.

whenever i answer the door they say they "only have literature for spanish speakers" and then turn around and leave. irks me that they assume i don't speak spanish just because i'm black.

When I lived with my mom they would come by very often. I tended to be polite and talk with them, so I think they got the impression I could be convinced to join their cult.

Though after moving out on my own, I have not seen anyone, I guess they don't waste their time in apartment complexes

I'll answer the door and offer them some bottled water. It's not my thing, but it couldn't be an easy gig.

What other denominations besides jw frequently go door to door?

This was actually the first year I've had them come by. They showed me a passage and asked if it inspired me, I responded "I don't know", then they gave me a pamphlet and left.

In Missouri it was Mormons and in Kentucky it was The JWs, and in Montana I got hit with some other group, just an old man by himself who I think was a branch of the Mormon church or something.
Haven't had any in New York

I've had a few friends who are JW. I told them when we met I'm athiest and not interested in joining. I said we can debate though. They were alright dudes. I don't understand the worldwide hate they get. They seemed like a regular Christian group with a bit more focus on end times and Jesus. I know they have similar prohibitions somewhat like Mormons

I just remember growing up in Kentucky where you had your Southern Baptists, Catholics, and your JWs.
JW kids werent allowed to celebrate anything. So like when we had our class Halloween parties they would just sit at their desk and do nothing but look sad. I felt bad for those kids.
What 8 year old doesn't want a spooky cookie or wear a plastic spider ring while you pretend to be a witch or something?

Not in years but used to. I was super rude to them and slammed the door in their face.

Occasionally. I just tell them no thank you, I have my own faith and they leave. I've only ever had one annoying interaction. The ones in my area at least understand, that people don't like being badgered.

It's because they've a reputation for being annoyingly persistent and condescending.

I am religious, they don't need to know its of the non monotheistic variety.

Just say you're not interested, and if you really really don't want to be called on just say so. It should be marked down and your door will be skipped from then on.

It's more that their organization has a history of covering up child sex abuse. The also require members to shun their own family members if they decide to leave the cult. And they don't let members accept blood transfusions, which has resulted in lots of kids dying over the decades because they refused medical treatment.

Thats gross, but sadly not surprising. In the US, its illegal to deny your children medical care based on religious beliefs. An adult can decline, but parents get charged for neglect.

Basically during they covid they began letters but most areas they've started going physically to doors again. They already had a letter system for apartment complexes cuz you can't really get into those without living there most of the time anyway.

Not system as in a program, system as in a process. They basically just have addresses of areas that are more fit for letters than trying to get to the place physically and will occasionally send those out.

Oddly enough I've not gotten contacted by them at all since moving into my apartment even though I know one of their places of worship is close by.
