Greetings, Niece and Nephew.

In todays Yum/Yuck Arena we have a new challenger an international cuisine. It is a dish that can be prepared in a matter of minutes, especially if you use leftover rice as recommended. We have Chinese Fried Rice, a dish from the Orient. There are many variations of Fried Rice, but we are going with the Chinese style today. So what do you think? Will it be a YUM or a YUCK?

Its a bowl full of carbs, and it doesn't even taste that great. Not a fan. If I'm going to eat that many empty calories, I at least want it to be a flavor bomb.

It kind of depends. Fried rice with old leftover rice (which is entirely what it was made for) and freshly cooked rice are pretty different.

There's a lot of variants of fried rice since it's traditionally literally leftover food. There isn't even just one type of Chinese style fried rice.

I'm sure the one pictured tastes great but..

I've only ever had it from typical Chinese restaurants and have never preferred it to regular plain rice. It's just dry hard yet still greasy extra sodium blandness to pair with my already salty and greasy food.

In my country there's a variant of fried rice called USA fried rice.

Unlike its namesake, it actually has nothing to do the United States.

The U, S & A stands for the ingredients in the local language.

U = udang = shrimp
S = sotong = squid or cuttlefish
A = ayam = chicken

I love. I've been getting a frozen fried rice dish from Walmart lately. They're great. I would like to make something similar on my own. Any ideas?

It's great until the leftovers are finished & I don't want it again for months. Then I want it again.

Love me some fried rice. I dont eat out much, but over the last decade the few places I went to that served fried rice, all of them dont use soy sauce and just add a ton of salt. Why? It seems like you are getting the same amount of sodium anyways, might as well use soy sauce.
