Frequently. It's also frequently lower than normal. Type 1 diabetes is just fun like that.

I take insulin. I use a pump instead of shots though. It's way more convenient. Mostly.

I've been testing as "pre-diabetic" basically my entire life. Some of it is lifestyle, but it's mostly genetic.

Last I checked... no. Got a blood test and yet to get any confirmation.

I believe they would let me know promptly if I did.

Yeah, you carry a little phone sized machine filled with insulin and it gradually delivers it to you through a tube. You can also tell it to give larger immediate doses as needed. It basically translates to one needle every couple days instead of five or so needles per day (excluding needles for testing blood sugars lol). Numbers vary, but it seems like somewhere between 30% and 50% of type 1 diabetics use pumps over injections.

After like fifteen years with a pump, I'm still not totally used to sleeping with it. I always roll over it in my sleep and hafta move it out of the way. Also doorknobs are annoying cuz the tube can get caught on them as you're walking by. -_-

You use a needle to insert an infusion set with a tube into your abdomen, arm, leg, or buttocks. Looks like this:

I only use my belly though. Having a tube running from my pocket or belt all the way to my arm or leg sounds annoying when it comes time to actually use that limb lol. The tubing already feels short when it's just stretching from my pocket to my abdomen.

Hehe, the lung transplant team doesn't tell you that they turn you into a diabetic by loading you with 85mg of Prednisone daily. After 6 months they wean you down to 10mg and your blood sugar goes back to normal. No more insulin just Metformin, and just test 2-3 times a week.
