Then you never use it and the game ends.

Funny because I don't go into the first dungeon until I grind for enough gold to buy and equip all the items from the first village

I do this one a lot. "That Elixer seems rare. I should save it until I really need it."

Still in my inventory when the credits roll XD

In most jrpgs I dont buy any armor because some enemies drop stronger armor.

though there are a few games where, you have no choice but to find the better armor because the in game stores wont sell any armor or weps

kinda like labyrinth of refrain. No armor/weapon stores no wandering vendors just gotta find shit by killing shit or exploring the dungeon to the point you find hidden chest that might have a few armor pieces lying around

Those megalixers are for the optional superbosses. That I will totally get around to doing.

I usually do this because it's rare we're given a full set of starting equipment. It's a good baseline I can upgrade piece by piece later.

I feel so proud of myself. In my current playthrough of FFX I used a whole two ethers.

Although in my defense I would have used another one against Yunalesca but Yuna was zombied. So I think that would have depleted 100 MP instead.
