Not really. Stealth games would be an exception though. Nothing quite as thrilling as moving like a ghost undetected by anything.

No, not at all.

The "get hit and you lose your weapon" mechanic completely ruined Adventure Island for me. It's not fun slinking away from enemies with your tail tucked between your legs. Defeating enemies is fun. A game can still be challenging, but enemies that can't be beaten or can't be retaliated against should not be a thing in video games. If we're not supposed to hit them, just make the obstacle a mine or a swinging ball 'n' chain or something. Don't place a sniper on a roof where it's impossible to ever hit them.

If you voluntarily wish to evade enemies without fighting them, that's your business. But for the programmer to place the player in a cage and poke them with a sharp stick, with no means of retaliation, is just wrong.

Sounds like the game isn't for you. It's fine to be disappointed that they changed the game in a manner you don't like, but the devs don't owe you anything.
The fact that you tried to make this about morality and everything else makes you seem pretty entitled.
