It's absolutely ridiculous that paid sick days aren't mandatory across the country

The health hazard people pose for going into work sick (especially in food service positions) are very high

He's going to start punching tickets in the run up to 2024. As many as he can get past the GOP.

Still, this is welcome and overdue.

So workers were being abused so badly that they had to appeal to the president of the United States to come in and fix it.

What is wrong with this world? When did the entire workforce stop viewing us as humans and start seeing us as plow-pulling mules? Notice that nobody stands up for them to have bigoted marijuana drug tests done away with. I actually think that in a fair world, the decision makers in the railway industry should be in prison for even suggesting that a worker not have sick days.

You won't hear a single MAGAt or Republican talk about this. Nope. It didn't happen. We'll still only hear about how Biden killed the strike and doesn't care about workers.

That's interesting. With how slow its been you gotta wonder if that's been his plan all along. Especially with the budget put through. I wonder if he's going to go all in on student loan debt at the last minute so there won't be time to escalate it to the supreme court before the election.

That's awesome. When the Biden admin put an end to the strike I was afraid that meant the railroad companies won. I'm glad they kept fighting for this. Workers should get paid sick leave.

That's how things work under capitalism. The purpose of any private business is to maximize profits. That's it. Nothing else. There should be no expectation that they will do anything that cuts into their bottom line unless they're forced to.

We just went through a pandemic where it was extremely clear that paid sick days meant the difference between life and death for a lot of people. And still :)

The supreme court literally cannot just declare opinions. There needs to be a case brought before them.

4, with the ability to convert 3 personal days to sick days, so potentially 7 paid sick days.

But so far it's only been worked out with BNSF, CSX, UP and NS. Granted those are by far the largest Class 1 railroads, there's still 3 other Class 1 railroads that have yet to even entertain the idea. And probably won't anytime soon bc I don't think they are on the national contract.

You know guys, it's possible he may know what he's doing.

This is obviously better than before but still a joke amount of sick time. Labor rights are so terrible in America this is seen by many as a huge win instead the minor one it is.

Some maga will sue and it will get passed up.

Insufficent amount of it but a good step in the right direction.

Should be something like a dozen paid sick days(more for certain jobs like any healthcare job or job that requires prolonged/frequent exposure to ill people) plus unlimited(with some condtions) unpaid sick days.

Any job operating highly dangerous equipment should also get extra paid sick days.

Also doctors notes should be restricted more in when they can be required.

What did you expect him to do though? Let the country implode, as Heineken stated it would? How would that have helped? All it would do is make Biden lose 2024 and fling the country into chaos.
