Or are at least innately predisposed towards evil? I believe evil is something thats learned, but so many people in this world are so twisted beyond comprehension that I wonder if its just human nature.

Not entirely no? Though I guess if we consider being born with the potential for mental issues and not getting proper treatment is the closest thing to it.

Ethically from a societal standpoint, yes, they're called sociopaths.

I don't think people are good or evil at all.

Maybe. There could be a gene that makes you have very little empathy or care for others.

I think certain physiological conditions can create a perception of evil intent when its a diagnosable condition that causes that behavior.

A friend I used to have once said to me in a moment of vulnerability, Im glad youre sticking around because most people get sick of me and cut me off from their life.

I assumed it was just a rough history; drug use, lying from drug use, that kind of stuff.

In reality, he has narcissistic personality disorder and spending too much time around him made people hate him. Made me hate him and I really hated that. Its justit all came to light and to a head when Trump rose to power.

He loved Trump. Really, really loved him. They were friggin identical. Go figure.

That sounds more like a narcissist but then again not all psychopaths or sociopaths are "evil" it's definitely complicated

Sounds like youre pulling something from your ass to make yourself feel superior.

Seriously though, no, it wasnt that.

It was watching him meet someone new who might gain him something, like a ride, or money off somewhere, and witnessing the hes the best guy ever! and the very first time he didnt get a ride, or money off, worst piece of shit ever! then he would spend energy trying to turn everyone against him.

I witnessed many, many textbook examples, which I learned through knowing him.

Keeping an alcoholic mutual friend drinking because he could control him more easily.

I talked to my father during that time about stressors I was living with at the time, and after telling my friend, all he cared about was that he was part of what I talked about. That was it. His image to my dad, who he didnt even know, was more important than the struggles I was facing.

It was a lot. And it was during Trumps ascension that it really, really manifested itself. He was emboldened and didnt keep quite as many things to himself as he once did. That was when I learned just how horribly racist and homophonic he was too.

I left his life. Its been nearly 5 years now. Every time I think about saying hi, I just have to remind myself how damaging his NPD had on not only my life, but everyone else around him.

I actually feel sad for him. Not like he can help it. I do know this, NPD is a ruthless disease.

The same thing really. People don't pick how their brains are made up.

2% of people are born psychopaths, maybe a bit more than that are sociopaths, but even among such individuals a minuscule percentage could be considered genuinely evil. among evil individuals, i think the number born that way could be counted on one hand if that. by and large, "evil" is a product of nurture rather than nature.
