Who thinks a game is made better by locking better gear behind having 20 bimblos, which drop 2% of the time you kill a glomgus (there are only 3 in the game and they only respawn once a week) (also the game tells you nothing about this)

The single biggest reason keep me from playing an Altelier game is that its entire game mechanic is centered on crafting and combining. I really don't like crafting systems in games.

Face it Cloud is a gaming icon and has appered in lots of games while mario has only appeared in 2 games sunshine and 64~xSlashbomBx

I dont mind the crafting in The Last of Us, as its very basic and just a case of choosing what you want to invest your limited bank of materials in.

Generally speaking, Im not a fan of crafting systems.

But the crafting in Atelier is actually good, and not anything at all like the garbage other games have

I really gotta be in the mood for it. I'm playing Stranded - Alien Dawn right now, and it's a very in-depth crafting and survival game with a lot of micromanaging. I'm definitely into it right now, it's cool with a lot of neat ideas, but it may be a year before I play another when i'm finished with this. I can't play them frequently, the relearning gets kind of old.

i generally love them, but only when they're well integrated. if they're tacked on just to pad out playtime then, yeah, i don't see the point. but stuff like terraria? i'll play those forever.

It depends on how it's implemented. It's probably easier to design a game where, instead of a boss dropping X weapon, they drop material A that either becomes X weapon, is collected or combined into X weapon, or is used as currency where X weapon is available for purchase.

Devs going ham and making the crafting too tedious defeats the purpose.

At least those aren't the core mechanics of the game. You can largely ignore it in New Vegas, and counter it in Fallout 4 by just picking up literally everything you can.
