You could be like "hey sarah, did you get the report? Just checking all ok"

And she will be like

"Good morning pinky0926,

I hope that you are well. I am writing to you to confirm that the report was received on Monday the 19th of June at 10.47am at which point I was able to open the attachment and run it. However, there is one amendment I would request. *details of that*

Your prompt attention in this matter is greatly appreciated. I have attached a reference of previous communications.

Like chill hun, we write software for your database system. Could have just said "hey mate can you fix column C to show the date in a YYYY-MM-DD format pls"

It's typical business talk to make sure there are absolutely no misunderstandings, because searching for more details after you already send the original message wastes both your time and the recipients' time, and in a lot of cases shows incompetence if it is past the training period.

Attaching info and past messages I get. Talking like we are formally engaging in legal proceedings is not typical business talk, and suggests to me someone very new at working in office work.

Because when you treat every interaction without any rapport or familiarity it's pretty difficult to wrangle a favour out of someone

Instead of accepting the other person for who they are, you get bothered because they don't act how you feel they should?

Be careful with this person. She gets it and will be your boss soon.

Ain't nobody got time for that. If your email is more than a short paragraph, then it's a 10 second phone call.

She is a junior compliance officer for one of our smallest clients. You could not be more off base, lol

I actually prefer the office speak emails

I hate when people in positions of authority send emails like:

"hi

I ned the Docment vefore the eod thabks"

And it's like "What document? What are you even asking me to do? Why are you typing like an 11 year old girl?"

Nothing wrong with formal speak, especially if it's external communication with people you don't meet face-to-face regularly. Might also just be company policy.

Verbosity is always bad though.

The problem is that other customers may expect something different.

I deal with such issues too.

Some are self employeed people in a company with no other employee at all, but they act like the most important person in the world because they gave themself some CEO title.

Others are pretty chill.

Others are too chill, and are like "Yo, how are you, how was your vaccation, btw, we have some issue, our server is on fire, please check."

I always try to adjust myself to them, but I tell you, it's not always that easy.

Time will tell who is right here. And based on your whining and her professionalism, I stand by what I said. If you're both at that company in a decade, she'll be above you. Maybe not your direct boss but she'll certainly be at a higher pay grade.

Keep whining. She'll keep winning.
