I first noticed my hair starting to thin out about two weeks ago and I've been stressing out over it. It's right where my bangs are so I've been keeping them down. I'm sure I'm the only one who notices it and plus the light in my bathroom is super bright but despite that it's still making me self conscious. Anyone on CE that can recommend a shampoo or a conditioner that can slow it down? I know there are treatments but I don't think I need it yet.

As somebody who seems unlikely to ever lose his hair, if its going, let it go. Its much more dignified than trying to cling onto it.

Gave up the ghost about a year ago now. Love it. Shoulda done it a bit sooner honestly lol. Hang on to it for as long as you like, but really take a good look in the mirror regularly to see when it's just not working out for you. Soon as you're just not happy with it shave it off. Might be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.

Im not being judgemental. I just think the people who can accept that its going are generally happier for it and it shows. When people try to hide the fact that theyre losing their hair, they arent fooling anybody.

He is one of those people. He makes a topic that is about it thinning. And then says "eh, everything is fine (fine dog in burning house image here), yep. Don't need to worry about any hair things. Yep"

But if they are fooling you and successfully hiding it then how would you even know? I'm not sure you've thought this through entirely.

And you called them undignified. Seems like a bit of a harsh unfair judgement to me. You might've just been saying it in a jokingly playful way tho so it's all good.

Just get on finasteride and stop it. You can probably reverse it entirely if you act now. Given the hassle it is to get an appointment these days it might better to just get it directly from somewhere like Keeps.

finasteride
Never had anyone tell me they took this without also being depressed and/or having sexual problems. Many of which never went away after discontinuing.

Get real and start to picture a world where you are bald and shave that shit. Much better than risking permanent sexual dysfunction.

shave it off, you want to start getting used to it as early as possible and so will the people around you.
Thats what I did. It's a bit of a shock at first but now I actually like it.

or waste a ton of money on regain or whatever and maybe slow down the inevitable

TC died of hair loss because they never responded.
But for those of you looking to improve your hair game and you arent too far gone there is hope.

Rogaine can help promote growth but unless you treat the root cause (pun intended) you aren't going to stop the problem. Finasteride can help but then you get new problems like possibly sexual issues.

Instead if your hair is thinning and its not genetic, try to evaluate what the cause is. Some common ones are: dry scalp, excessive scalp scratching, and over exposure to the sun. Which all of them can domino effect into each other. I would get out of the shower, look in the mirror at my wet head and be disappointed at how visible my scalp was, but now this is no longer an issue for me!

Dry Scalp
When the scalp is dry, the hair is dry, which means it shrinks, the hair follicle shrinks, thus the hair thins. Also dry hair is brittle and falls out and breaks easily.

First major cause for dry scalp is too much shampoo! Ever notice how using soap on your hands tends to make them really dry? Well thats what you are doing to your scalp. You wouldnt think so but most shampoo and conditioner companies are owned my mega billionaire corporations like Proctor and Gamble that dont give a shit about your hair health. There are plenty of specialty brands of shampoo/conditioner that are supposed to combat dryness like added oil or other moisturizing properties. Believe me thats the first thing I tried for a few years I would try these and none of them did jack shit.

Another suggestion you will find online is to add the oil back into your hair with something like castor oil+an essential oil or coconut oil. Well we can easily use hand lotion for our skin but doing the same thing for your hair is messy and can seems to just reverting your hair to being oily which is why we shower right? Wrong, we shower to rid our scalp of dirt. So if your head is going to be a bit oily why not let it be from the natural oils created from our sebaceous glands that are meant to protect our hair shafts anyway?

Thats why I went the NO-POO method:
https://www.nopoomethod.com/
https://www.healthline.com/health/beauty-skin-care/no-poo#takeaway
If you are skeptical, try at least reducing the amount of shampoo you use.

Excessive Scratching
Scratching the scalp with sharp nails can damage the scalp and prematurely pull out hair, worsened when the scalp and hair is dry! Add sunshine into the mix and your head is ripe for excessive damage. You may not even realize how much you are scratching. Thats why I did a feel things to help with this. First I got myself some summer beanies to keep my scalp out of the sun and protect my scalp from my own unconscious scratching. Next to combat itchiness is scalpicin, which has anti-cortisone helps relieve scalp itch.

Last thing is your scalp could be itchy from dandruff well first you need to get one of these for the shower:
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/9/7/2/AAPCn7AAEmbU.jpg

This is the safest way to massage the scalp without damaging it (much safer then rough fingernails) and will help remove the dead skin material and dirt.

Lastly, you could have excessive dandruff from...eating too much carbohydrates:
https://youtu.be/SVqDO3PSeG0
I cant stop eating carbs though, but if you do think of the benefits! Weight loss, reduction of inflammation, avoiding diabetes, and no dandruff!

But yeah everyone there are things to do to avoid hairloss!
