Forgiveness for what? I live my life as a decent person because that's who I am, not for the promise of some reward.

If this deity is as psychopathic as many of his own followers make him out to be, pleading for forgiveness would do no good. It's like waking up and finding Hannibal Lecter standing over you in his killing suit... you already know what he intends, nothing you say's gonna help by that point.

And let's not forget the whole "crime" here is that you didn't believe the correct thing (because the evidence never pointed in that direction to you), therefore this warrants getting tortured for eternity. Hell, you'd probably have better chances talking Dr. Lecter out of eating you than begging psycho god to not torture you forever for not stroking his ego in your short life.

I feel like this topic is based on the misunderstanding that atheists would continue refusing to believe even when presented with actual evidence of God's existence. Which... isn't the case. It's not some kind of "gotcha." We don't reject God's existence out of some kind of agenda, and being (genuinely) proven otherwise isn't something we'd fight tooth and nail against.

Depends on which version of heaven we are standing in front of. Some preach assurance of salvation, that Christ died for everyone's sins including nonbelievers. So... wouldn't that suck for everyone thinking they get the exclusivity.

No? This wouldn't retroactively change the fact that there's no evidence of the Abrahamic god's existence nor that the bible is straight up wrong or contradictory on many subjects.

Why do you ask this tc? are you very religious? have heard of many people asking the non religious this question and many of them said they would ask, why he went to such great lengths to hide himself, or why he was frequently so cruel to his own creations. Do you consider these 2 two to be good responses or questions?

I grab St. Peter and slam him into the Pearly Gates until they open. I then make my way to God's chamber, when I see him face to face I challenge him to combat. He however cannot use his magical sky daddy powers to defend himself, he has to face me like a man because it wouldn't be fair that now he decides to take action specifically to defend himself like a little bitch.

He asks me the terms, I tell him if I lose he can erase my soul completely from existence as punishment. He asks what I want if I win, I tell him I take his place as God, and him, robbed of his powers, will spend eternity in hell suffering everything the people that begged to him for help for.

He contemplates it, then says no because he's a coward. He then sends me to hell.

So, I move on to Plan B. Challenge the Devil himself with the same stipulation.

I'd say :"If you are an example of the dicks that populate this place, I will find my own way out."
