One thing I read that talks about Oda, he is very polite, so he wont be as judgemental as the rest of us, so he might be holding something back for this, specially if the costs are high.

not likely as oda has turned down offers to adapt one piece into live action before
if he didnt think this idea had potential he wouldnt have greenlit it

Yeah this is the main thing that makes me think it might not be the worst thing.

Because Odas had 25 years to give up the rights and never has before. And its not like he needs the money.

and also, because IMO the anime is already a terrible adaption
