I saw on CNNs updates earlier that they lost contact at around 1:45 into the dive. Not sure how deep they would have been but that would still have been relatively early in the descent.

Because that would cost money. And being far enough away to likely be in international waters, there would no body overseeing safety regulations and system redundancies for emergencies.

Four days of oxygen and $250000 a trip implies you at least have fuctons of liability insurance.

I wonder if the passengers were told of the lack of safety systems in place before they boarded
