Its starting to affect my performance. Can barely talk without filtering myself because my boss will never be in my corner if something happens

That's pretty shitty. I've seen good people leave a job because the boss won't back them up.

At the point its probably time to look for another workplace

Any place you plan on staying at long-term should have a good work environment. Time to look somewhere else if it's not already a temporary job (like what you're doing until you finish a certificate program).

Making jokes at another user's expense as they share a very difficult time in their life is not appropriate.

You guys are right... I'm honestly looking every day for job posts to apply asap and get out of there but the market is not that great, pretty saturated

Why do you have to filter yourself? Like what are you filtering yourself for?

Also, what would having someone in your corner.. like, look like? What's the actual situation and what's the situation you want? I don't guess I get it.

The place I work is worse, People actively blame you for their errors, trick you into doing their work, and create extra work for others. It requires the same survival skills as prison.

• Take everything you can get your hands on.
• Keep your mouth shut.
• Dont make eye contact.

My main issue at work is I feel like I help out or do a lot more than basically everyone else, in general but specifically when I'm like not busy with my own stuff. I always find something to do, even if it isn't necessarily my job. And it gets taken like major advantage of sometimes. In fact, several things that weren't part of my job kinda became part of it. I suppose that's mostly on me for doing it to begin with but it wasn't entirely selfless tbh, helping out elsewhere helps us close earlier and everyone gets to leave earlier. And time goes faster when you're busy, I can't stand being idle at work.

But with some people it's pretty obvious they start fucking around close to closing because they either expect me to come finish their shit or just know I will. My original thinking was like "lead by example" or something, I thought by doing extra and helping out with anything I knew how to do other people might do it too. Nope!

It's not all bad though, I learned a ton of new shit and am able to work virtually any position now doing that and have gotten frequent/decent raises.

I kinda know how you feel. It's different though. My boss will have my back when it comes to her boss but she otherwise seems to have it out for me and jumps on my back constantly.

She has her staffs back though cause the way this place works if I fuck up it makes her look bad and gets her chewed out by her boss. So she will try to find reason to excuse minor fuck ups of her staff. Trust we get chewed out by her over it though lol.

She's past her retirement age though and I love my job so I'm just bidding my time and waiting for her to finally leave

Yup, you'd think. But nope.

I'm like the least corporate person you will meet.
But I actually don't mind doing my job.
Having said that, it amazes me to see the shamelessness some people have in the workforce.

I can related. A place I worked at was perhaps one of the most toxic workplaces ever. A lot of the co-workers were assholes with no real qualifications and the management was a joke. The slackers go untouched while the hardworking employees get pushed around.

Fuck. I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna ask about my promotion. They just promoted a coworker over me, a coworker whose back they do have, and there's at least 2 spots open.

I was the only person to make it through the first month.

Turnover is pretty insane but honestly once you embrace the law of the jungle its pretty easy to excel. Or at the very least coast by.

If I can work there and thrive I can handle any job.

Didn't get it. Just gonna drink myself into a stupor for the rest of the week
