I almost got sucked back into wrestling with WM Night 1 this year, but Night 2 reminded me why I stopped watching.

The main thing that gives AEW an edge over WWE (imo) is how its presented similar to late 90s/early 00s wrestling where everything has a more live "anything can happen" vibe as opposed to modern WWE being overproduced and sterile. The crowds are a lot more into it compared to WWE crowds too.

Definitely. I'm still hesitant about how this Punk return will actually play out, but I'm really happy to see AEW doing well enough that the higher-ups are giving them more TV time.

Who are all of those wrestlers you're even talking about? Most of the wrestlers on the card tonight aside from CM Punk are either wrestlers that were heavily underutilized during their time in WWE (like Andrade, Buddy Matthews, Samoa Joe, Ruby Soho, and FTR) or wrestlers who have no career in WWE to speak of (like Jay White, Willow Nightengale, Wardlow, and The Acclaimed)

I will. I wish it was an hour though. I'm still mad that Rampage turned out to be such an after thought. NXT was amazing being at one hour and was good at rotating everyone out week to week to leave you wanting more.

• Buddy Matthews vs. Andrade El Idolo (2 WWE guys)
• CM Punk will speak (WWE diva)

Instead of showcasing underused AEW guys he caved and gave screen time to a tag team who has a member who whines constantly on twitter about their booking, a man child who blew up publically with a history of burning bridges in 3 companies, and another man child who tried to force his way back to WWE by punching sammy in the face.

TK cant even book a good rampage show and you think i should have confidence in giving him more TV time? I loved AEW when it started, it was fresh faces in mainstream wrestling who i only got to see in NJPW or on the indies. Then he started bringing over WWE guys and got rid of his shiny new toys. When the luster of "who's debuting now" wore off you could tell he didnt know what to do with it. Then the backstage issues started and instead of putting his footdown to create a cohesive product he bought ROH and screwed over a lot of the signed talent there like the champ Jonathan Gresham. A man with no experience booking 8 hours of TV time a week is a recipe for disaster.

Part of the reason for Collision existing and a potential brand split resulting from it is to give more TV time for those wrestlers to shine. They may not be on the card tonight, but I heard that Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Thunder Rosa would be big parts of Collision, all of whom are names that kind of got lost in the shuffle like you said. And there are more like them who will get more chances due to Collision existing. Plus, I think it'll be booked better than Rampage because it's in a better time slot and is already being positioned as an equal to Dynamite instead of being clearly seen as a B-show in a terrible time slot from the beginning.

I'm not denying that Tony Khan has a lot of work to do in 2023, because 2022 was a rough year for AEW. They had to navigate around the chaos of Brawl Out, the acquisition and integration of ROH, and a lot of injuries, but they got through it and things are looking up now. Collision is starting, the big Wembley show is coming up, and the roster is much healthier heading into Forbidden Door 2. So I'm going to stay optimistic.

Wardlow has cooled off, Hangman is cooled off, Jade was booked awfully, The womens division is a huge clusterfuck, the tag division is dead, Ricky Starks is cooled off, he flip flops sammy constantly, Hook is doing nothing despite being one of the hottest acts months ago, Jungle Boy split from his team and isnt doing anything.

I get that you like AEW but lets not pretend that more TV is what TK can handle.

AEW would greatly benefit from another booker or a very small creative staff handling secondary/tertiary angles and plotlines. I like AEW but as time goes on I put more stock into the theory that TK creatively gave up after the Hangman arc and figured most fans would just blindly go nuts over the revolving door of dream matches.

its good but we gotta give it a few weeks to see how good it stays. AEW is good at the start of things but really bad with consistent booking.

It's very telling that a lot of "old timers" always praise CM Punk.

CM Punk sounds insufferable. I remember actually watching the Rampage he debuted at (of course it was in Chicago) and that was cool, but I felt like he threw it all away after awhile; whether The Elite were talking behind his back or not. He's at a post match presser bringing up something Hangman Page mentioned that only the most astute people would think was a dig and carry it as a chip on his shoulder for months.

All things said when CM Punk was rising to stardom I wasn't following wrestling (though I certainly heard of him) and just when I started following WWE again and watching this was near the end of his heel run with Heyman and then his short face run and then was gone from the WWE. So I never had any real attachment to him either. Just seeing old WWE stuff here or there after the fact.

All of the matches were at least good (most of them were great), the commentary was great aside from JR in the main event, and Punk's promo was about what people expected. So overall, it was pretty good. However, there was one booking decision that a lot of people (myself included) found questionable and I'm not sure where they're going with it, which was *spoilers* Luchasaurus winning the TNT Championship from Wardlow.

Oh yeah I saw, that spoiler I was like huh I really did like Luchasaurus once but him winning that belt seemed very random. It's not that I dislike him now I guess Wardlow REALLY cooled off heh But maybe something crazy will happen soon because that seemed so out of the blue. I was just thumbing through cagesideseats and saw that mentioned but not much else.

And then the show eventually ended ;)
