My company offers tuition reimbursement and im thinking about getting my degree finally. Has to be related enough to the company to get reimbursement. Theres the usual finance, accounting, business, marketing, IT, etc. and none of them really excited or intrigued me aside from business, but im not sure about starting my own business. Theres an online associates, bachelors and masters for data analytics that seems pretty interesting. Just wondering what the actual day to day job usually entails with it.

A job would probably entail a lot of data cleaning (making sure shit like numbers aren't misinputted as text as a basic example), doing the correct kind of analysis, and making a lot of reports so the decision makers can make good choices based on your data.

A lot of computer time and looking at rows and columns. BTW is this specifically 'data analytics' or 'data science' as the latter is more rigorous genrally

Ah, so is it one of those niche fields? I figured with technology, apps and social media that field would be exploding.

It's definitely very employable I've just had some bad luck and my networking didn't pay off much.

Data is and has been the next big thing and everybody does and will need it. Data is an arms race

My wife is one and all she does is push excel all day ie fixing ledgers, sending out letters of how much people owe, and just overall accounting stuff. She works for affordable housing in SF. She just goes thro thousands of tenants in an excel spreadsheet and put in if they paid rent or not.

Honestly just seems like learning excel thro and thro would be more beneficial

Edit- my wife's major was hospitality. The only reason why she got the job was because she was able to explain some excel function that she learned in class one time that she somehow remembered.

Learning Excel is pretty much a life hack for any office job.
