I don't normally work the morning shift, but this week's schedule iis all sorts of messed up. So, I was having a fairly bad day, got yelled at by 3 different guests for things that were their own fault/stupidity.

Then finally the last guest came to check out. She was very nice and polite, I asked if she had a nice stay, and she the hotel was fine but the convention she attended didn't go well. She said she was the main speaker at the event, and tried selling her book but that she didn't get type of attention she was expecting.

So, being polite I asked about her book. But turns out she didn't write it, she was just vending it I guess. Then she complained about the food, entertainment, and atmosphere. Said that all the guests were invited to a party afterwards and it turned out to be a drag party lol. She was very upset at how unprofessional the whole ordeal was.

So, I asked what kind of convention it was, as I hadn't heard of any going on. Turns out she is one of the heads of MUFON(the UFO network). It was a hybrid cryptid/alien event and they asked if she wanted to come speak. I guess she thought it'd be more of a scientific event rather than a campy fun one like it turned out to be. She didn't feel the people were taking it as seriously as they should.

Anyways, she stayed and chatted for about an hour. It was actually pretty fun talking to her and hearing about all the stuff they do at MUFON. Some of my coworkers were giving her the bombastic side eye though, lol.

I like to think aliens exist, and some UFO stuff might be real. It's fun to entertain the idea, and I can't disprove it, so I don't see any real harm in that stuff. But she was REALLY, really really, very seriously into it. I guess you have to be to one of the leaders of MUFON, but like, she took it very dead serious.

I hate to promote stereotypes, especially for how nice she was, but the more we talked, the more she just seemed off kilter about things. She'd talk matter of fact about one thing, then the next sentence is some wild conclusion a conspiracy nut would come up with.

She shared lots of stories, and it was interesting and fun to hear her stories, but that was the longest conversation I've had in ages.

Now it's thirty minutes of ads, followed by George saying "you're listening to the radio, here's some more ads".

yeah, everyone expects them to be a group of Fox Mulders, but they're mostly Dale Gribbles.

Thank you, that sums it up pretty well. She seemed like Dale cosplaying as Mulder.

The big difference is that in the fictional world of The X Files, aliens definitely were visiting Earth. In reality they are not. There are no Fox Mulders, just Dales.

My luck continues. Had to pull a 16 hour shift over ght last night and this morning. Had a drunk guy come down and spent over 2 hours giving me history lessons and bragging about himself.

Longest. Night. Ever. Give me back MUFON lady.

Just cut them off. Unless the bar you work at is failing and you can't afford to kick out drunks?

Did she say anything about that Vegas family last week who called 911 about a ship crashing in their backyard and 9 foot tall beings coming out of the wreck?

She did, she told me a lot about it. I hadn't heard of it till then.

I'm no good at that stuff, I tried convincing to go back to his room, but he'd just turn right back and keep talking.

Being talkative while drunk isn't going to get you bounced from anywhere.

Being noticeably drunk at all will get you bounced from most places that aren't dives. Public intoxication is still illegal even if your neighborhood watering hole allows it. Most bars don't want someone going from their establishment and then causing trouble in public afterward such as driving intoxicated.
