In that cartoon from the early 2010's where it was supposed to be more grounded, I watched those episodes where Cecil would have the upper-hand against Bugs for most of the episode until the end when Bugs would achieve victory through his usual self.

But in the 1940's, I just learned of an entirely different story. They did 3 cartoons centered around the old classic tale of "The Turtle and the Hare" which is also where Cecil made his debut. In the first two races, Bugs loses in embarrassing fashion, the likes of which we usually see him pull off. The end of the first one even has the turtles pull off Bugs thing where he mockingly kisses the guy he's tormenting. In the last race, Bugs actually wins, but it ends with Cecil getting Bugs to confess to speeding, which lands Bugs in the slammer, where I hear the turtle even says "Ain't I a stinker?"

Very un-Bugs like, but I guess ever since that old fable was made, bunnies around the world will always lose to the turtle. It's a little funny to see a character get the best of Bugs so much as even in his defeat, he usually still does it in such a Bugs Bunny way that it doesn't feel like a total loss, but here, nope, Bugs got got.

Being a fan of Daffy was the hardest thing growing up
Knowing that he was the much funnier toon, seeing him always bested by Bugs was heartbreaking.

Isn't he the only character to consistently beat Bugs? I'd say so.

The "I wanna Easta Egg!" kid and the Easter Rabbit gave him a hard time.

Daffy was my fav too, but let's be honest, he often brought his failures on himself.

The Looney Tunes show. Ran for 2 seasons, but it got canceled. Was still episodic, but I would say there was more continuity and it was a lot more grounded. Probably similar to that muppets show that got canceled pretty quickly as well but still more comedic in nature.

It was like the looney tunes characters in a sitcom (but with added Looney Tunes antics), it was so weird. It was also really good. Though probably best known for being the only real Looney Tunes property to bother trying to give Lola Bunny a character.

If you've never watched The Looney Tunes Show, I'd recommend.

Looney Tunes Show was like Seinfeld with Looney Tunes.

Like, I remember this episode where Bugs was trying to get into Lola's family photo just because she said no, he can't be in it.

That's something Seinfeld would totally do.

Being so full of himself despite getting bested by the majority of everyone is the larger part of what makes him funny.

Yeah, pessimistic loser Daffy is my favorite incarnation. It's like the writers were self-aware that Bugs came along and usurped his popularity.
