To summarize, didn't get the promotion I was hoping for, not going to stick around for another year as an underling trying to prove myself, job is way too stressful to want to do that. Economy is not the best it could be, but I just can't do it. The voices from my years-long depression that ended in 2021 have started popping back up lately, and I can't do that to myself. I refuse to give in this time.

This isn't really an emotionally-driven decision that happened spur of the moment. Saw this coming, and have thought about this for a good amount of time now. Am on the job hunt, but admittedly, am really nervous about the resignation process. I'm not one to burn bridges, and I don't really have any particular issues with my partners or management. I plan on doing this soon as I don't want to put myself in a position where I waited too long, and I do feel the need to stick around due to the nature of the job for at least another year. There is a year-end bonus, but since I didn't get the promotion, I imagine I will probably get the tier 2 and maybe even tier 3 bonus (which just means a lesser bonus compared to tier 1), and it's just not worth sticking around until October to get that bonus (which approaches that timeframe where I would feel obligated to stick around). I hear mentioning bonuses that you would potentially leave on the table is a good tactic for interviews, so when they ask about compensation, it will probably be something I bring up.

I do want to take a break for a few months, but I understand the large risks involved with that. I have money saved for this situation, but I can't hold out forever, especially with student debt payments about to resume.

Don't really have a purpose other than to blog post essentially. Feeling nervous, but I know that this is the decision I need to make. Was thinking I was going to ask for advice, but then realized I don't even know what advice I am seeking. Wish me good luck, and I wish those in the same boat as me good luck as well.
