It's less a boomer/gen x problem and more a busy body/control freak problem. So probably never. Least not till AI replaces everything but executive positions.

Mouse activity detection software is common enough that there is an entire market for little usb dongles that causes your mouse pointer to move every couple of seconds automatically.

I use a separate mouse jiggler thats not detectable. Its just so I dont go idle on Microsoft teams

Yep. I'm full time remote and none of this weird monitoring shit.

Not even online status is cared about. Some of my coworkers have themselves set as permanently offline, but are quick to respond if pinged

Basically a good job cares about your results, not your time
