It's actually fucked up how much people care about - grass.

They poison their lawns and then furiously mow them.

And I can't tell you what goes through my head when I see an Automated Sprinkler going off - When it's Raining.

I am in drought conditions up here, and every lawn that was obsessed over with their two and half inch grass...is brown right now.

Grass obsession is an odd thing.

I beg to differ I enjoy having a lawn and no I am not ashamed i water it and use a gas powered mower.

I have a battery powered mower. It's fairly quiet, and not mucking up the environment.

Yes. There is a house diagonally behind me that seems to only cut their back yard like once a summer. It's fucking disgusting.

Funny enough I did something similar. I had cows and I would move my cars outside the gate. I would turn them in and in about 10 mins everything was eaten up. There was a few high spots, but a pass with the mower finished it up. 20mins to clean up 2 acres

Why not? It's a relaxing process, good exercise and can be done early while the grass is still wet (actually mows better when it's wet). I bought a scythe a few years ago and have loved using it. Granted I don't mow the entire yard with it as my lawn is freaking huge and using the scythe takes more time. But it's a really useful tool and if I had a smaller yard I'd exclusively use the scythe.

Takes me about 30-45 minutes to mow with my 48in riding mower just to give an idea of the size. But I use the scythe for trimming and for certain patches when I feel like it.

Dig up your lawn and grow native plant species.

Goats actually kinda suck for eating grass...unless you have a lot then you have worse issues .

I've been thinking about doing all clover in my back yard as an experiment. There's some varieties that really don't grow but so tall. However there's some that will literally grow a couple feet....but then you can get goats

Funny you should mention the obsession with keeping ones lawn perfectly trimmed, TC, as I recall watching a video by Ordinary Things a while back where he explained how it was intentionally popularized by some landscaping company president back in the fifties since he wasnt getting as many clients as he used to, thus he wanted to recoup his losses by getting folks sold on the idea that an untrimmed lawn equates to a lousy homeowner.

My friend Marth, I live on 10 acres, in the mountains, with a lot of forest, where 4 different species of venomous snakes live. Me or my dog would die at some point during the summer if I just let what grass I do have just grow out and get tall and long.

From an aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer yards that have a desert landscape

Reminds me of the time Nintendo decided to implement a little feature they called animal paths in one of the later Animal Crossing games in which your towns grass would get trampled down over both the player character and villagers walking over it repeatedly, presumably so you could make natural footpaths through your town, but what actually wound up happening for a lot of people was that they would inevitably wind up with a desert due to running around all the time, hence why it was common to lay down custom grass patterns to simulate normal grass since it looked completely ugly otherwise.

That's how I feel about motorcycles and cars with loud exhaust. Like why? It sounds terrible and you're not cool.

I have a Honda. It can mulch or bag. I usually just mulch though. It has two blades so it's not just leaving a bunch of big pieces of grass everywhere. Decent on gas. Would recommend.
