then you're technically rubbing the slide even though people I've talked to sometimes call it the barrel, right? FYI, this just for an article I'm writing and I knew very little about guns before this...

Also, if I was rubbing the whole front of the gun, the part after the trigger that elongates with the muzzle, is their a good word to describe that part of the gun?

Yes, you'd be rubbing the slide, the barrel is the cylinder piece that goes inside the slide.

There's a cutout on the slide that exposes part of the barrel, unless you're referring to that, yes it's the slide.

Yes. The barrel is inside the slide. If you pull the slide all the way back, the barrel will stick out the front.

But yes, that's referred to as the slide. The whole top part of the gun is the slide, the barrel goes INTO the slide. The front of the gun is still the front of the slide. Glocks also have serrations in the slides as well.

The slide is placed onto the lower portion of the gun, the frame.

I can't think of a single autoloading pistol that doesn't have serrations on the slide.

Even the Beretta bobcat what requires no racking to chamber a round has cocking serrations.

Also be sure to link your article when you finish TC it so I can laugh my ass off at your critique of gun culture when you have to ask CE what the top part of the most popular pistol in the world is.

Please don't use firearms for anything but hunting

Id hope they arent hunting with a Glock 17.

The barrel is inside the slide. The Glock's barrel is famously canted upwards so you can easily tell them apart.

I never said other's didn't? lol I was just stating the Glock did. TC was asking about it.

I own 3 of them lol and other pistols, well aware most have slide serrations, be terrible if they didn't!

The way you worded it made it seem like it was a unique thing Glock does, but I see now I guess you're trying to differentiate the slide and the barrel(but if it was me you'd probably just confuse me by adding that, it is sorta irrelevant).

Also good on you for owning guns. I sold all mine because I wanted to be on the right side of history. In fact I turned my semi automatic rifles over to my local PD because they can be trusted with them more than civilians.
