No it's not and I can't fathom for the life of me why people genuinely think this. If you're stretching a couple of pizzas for a couple of people out for a couple of days then yeah, maybe; but otherwise, no. At the moment you want to go for the frozen and non-perishables over the fresh. Sure the quality's not as great but and the fresh were about on par with the frozen as it is today, but it's still cheaper.

8-10 dollars for a pound of chicken
2-3 bucks for veggies
2-3 bucks for a starch

thats just for a plan quick gym meal. Not even including the seasonings or things like garlic

Nah lol. The only fast food places where I can get a meal for under $10 is Popeye's or KFC now.

it can be in the sense that you can also eat overpriced unhealthy garbage from the grocery store, too.

but in general its not if you put effort into cooking.

Pro tip: wait for chicken to go on sale and buy a ton of it. Chicken freezes really well compared to other meats. One pack of chicken nets me five meals. Pork is still decently priced. Produce can be cheap if you let sales and the season determine your sides.

For $10 I can get more food out of the grocery store than I could at any fast food place.

Just spent 500 dollars on groceries for 2 weeks, if my family of 4 were to eat out every night for 2 weeks we'd be spending way more than 500 and thats just the one meal. Lunches and breakfast not included.

Bread freezes fine as long as you don't intend on using it for fresh sandwiches. As soon as it defrosts it goes bad for sandwich purposes. If you just want toasted sammiches and grilled cheese tho it's fine.

It's still fine for sandwiches just not as good, but the cost of those sandwiches is still going to be pennies on the dollar vs eating out every lunch.

I freeze sliced bread all the time. Defrost it by stacking two slices, wrapping them in paper towel, and microwaving for 35-45 seconds at 50% power.

Well I am in an expensive state so it might be different, but I do feel that groceries cost more than they did several years ago. Oftentimes even when I go in the store with a plan to try to not spend over a certain amount, it adds up very fast and I end up breaking that plan

You can certainly find chicken at that price, but the chicken you buy at that price point will not compare to low-cost restaurant food. If you're looking for the quality of chicken you'll find as a low-cost eating out option, the price will be more like $3 per pound. I know prices can vary place to place, so that $3 per pound is in DC for comparison.

Chicken can be quite cheap if youre not above eating dark meat and/or doing a little home butchering.

I used to think that, because I hadn't been out to eat in a while, but I've been venturing out a bit and I'm shocked at home expensive everything is. I spent like $12 for a combo at Taco Bell. I used to be able to get an absurd amount of food for $5.

I feel like you're overestimating the cost on the noodles and sauce. $1.50 gets a pound of store brand spaghetti. $3 for decent sauce (I'm partial to Newman's Own, myself).

My only issue with that is you can't see the stuff in the tubes before you buy it. I've had the misfortune of buying some that ended up being a lot more funky than I'm comfortable with, but I ended up eating it anyway. >_>

People don't buy it so it sits there for longer. You gotta check the pack date or eat the whole thing the day you buy it which is what I recommend. That's why I say if you already know you need like a pound of it to make chili or something like that it's a great way to save a little bit.

It's penny pinching sure but when you're comparing it to the already cheap fast food, it makes a big difference.
