if the $70 price point isn't sustainable for aaa titles tbh i see a future where you pay $20 a month and get access to a library of games ala gamepass and a bunch of gamepass clones.

I hate it. GoldenEye 007 on the Xbox pretty much is a subscription based game. You only get to own it (as much as you can actually own a digital console game with DRM) if you bought Rare Replay digitally. I bought it physically, so my only option to play the game (other than buying Rare Replay twice) is to get Game Pass. I don't like Game Pass that much. There aren't many games on it that I'm interested in that aren't games I already have, or games I'd rather get on PC.

AAA games weren't worth 60 for a long time, especially when most of the cost they take on is self inflicted.

In every other industry if shit didn't work at cost they usually take a step back and evaluate. In gaming try just keep trying to squeeze every bit of pulp out of that dead horse.

But he isn't counting the serviceable obtainable market today compared to yesteryear, which has massively increased.

You should go on a Linux forum and tell them that all software that you pay for always works sans video games. Bring back the best replies.

Pretty much everyone who uses the inflation argument just uses the most basic math that can be googled to calculate the cost.

For AAA gaming the largest part of the budget is almost universally marketing.
