WD2 had a huge sales slump compared to WD1 and Legion just went on a huge discount today on Steam and I hardly even hear anyone talking about it... so I assume that sequel crashed failed as well.
What's up with this though? Both games got good reception and scores by reviews and people who played the game liked them too. Heck, WD2 can even be considered a huge step up from WD1.

Maybe the first was so bad everyone's brain filed it into "never again" status

3rd one still has game breaking glitches including save file nukes that have apparently gone entirely ignored and seemingly won't get fixed.

i heard Legion was like the epitome of generic Ubisoft open world trizzash.

WD2 was somewhat good but gets tiring quickly...

For me, I loved the first game a bunch Except the driving stuff But once I got use to it, it wasnt so bad

The second one was more of the first, but with a different character. And a crew, which I thought was cool A little different, but not too bad And both the first and second game had a specific main character

The third game was pretty different, though You created a character rather than just playing as one. They also had an even bigger team. Like in the game, you were basically a loner, but had a small crew in the second game. The third was about building an army. Of very unique hackers. Pretty much most characters had a skill set. And you could higher most of them It was bad, and might have been pretty good. But I never really got too far due to having to stop for whatever reasons. I may go back, though

The only reason I got the sequels was because I liked the first one a ton

Look like a totally different story from the first one so wasn't too interested.

I loved Watch Dogs 2.

I bounced right the fuck off Legion. The characters in that one suck ass.

I think the cool hacker vibe doesn't quite hit what people want out of a GTA game maybe.

Either that or GTAV is just that dominant.

Man there's barely GTA-likes anymore. I wish there were more!

Majority of open world games are either set in old times or an apocalypse so they don't have to design proper cities.

Because they were the same recycled Ubisoft trash and gamers actually caught up on the bullshit for once.

i liked watch dogs 2, but watch dogs legion might have been the most bland aaa game i've ever played in terms of presentation and gameplay. making any character replayable just resulted in a lot of lifeless boring nobody characters, a lot of which were clones of others.

So why did AC titles continue to succeed?

I think if Ubisoft actually just continued Aiden Pierce's story in the two sequels instead of diverging so completely to a whole new setting.... they might've succeeded.

WD2 was good but it was too far out of being relatable by completely switching the setting and main character

WD2 is unironically an alright game. Suffers from the Ubisoft open world bloat but the game is fun and the characters were cool

I've only ever heard bad things about the third one tbh.

2 was pretty fun but completely lost my interest about halfway through. I've tried to pick it back up but it's just meh. Surprisingly I liked the first one a lot

Watch Dogs 2 didn't bomb. Both the first and second games sold over 10 million copies. And as far as I can tell, Legion didn't break 10 million, but it still sold decently.

Its not like Watch Dogs left people wanting more.

"GTA but you can hack shit" is a novel enough concept to have people give your game a go. Its not novel enough to carry sequels to a bland, unimpressive and forgettable game
