Life expectancy in the US is dropping, not going up.

If you didn't die as a kid from now-preventable illness and other medical advancements you had a good chance of living a long life.

No processed foods, active life necessary for work....if you were lucky to not get seriously ill or random unsafe trauma stuff you had a good shot at living a long healthy life.

Half the patients I see now are 50 year olds in wheelchairs on oxygen

John Owens was born in 1735, so he would predate the established record by about 15 years.

I think the biggest problem is with Owens's photograph though. The earliest known portrait photograph of a human was taken around 1837, and photograph portraits weren't really a thing with the public until 1840. Assuming Owens's photograph was taken in 1840, that would mean he would be about 105.

Based on the topic title at least those aren't the same thing. It's not that he was the earliest person photographed, rather he was the earliest born person photographed. So presumably he was years earlier than this Heyer fellow, but photographed at a later date than him.

I meant earliest born person photographed with Heyer. Heyer was photographed around 1850.

For the curious, the earliest known, surviving photograph of a human is some dude getting his shoe's shined in this picture from 1838 (near the bottom left).

Hippolyte Bayard supposedly took a self portrait of himself in 1837, but if this is true, the photograph is likely lost to time. Bayard also created the first known staged photograph in 1840 when he made a fake portrait of a "drowned man" by taking of photo of himself pretending to be dead (This photo still exists).

The earliest known surviving portrait photograph of a human being is likely that Robert Cornelius from 1839.

Seconding this. A quick search for John Owens being the oldest born person ever photographed isn't turning up anything.

My guess is the person who uploaded this photograph misidentified something (perhaps the photo is of a different John Owens).

There is a chance this actually a legit image and the uploader wasn't aware of the significance (I doubt this, but there is a chance).

Looks like Owens has been talked about for sometime on videos with at least over 300k total views on Youtube.
