YouTube will no longer remove content on its platform that says widespread voter fraud happened during the 2020 election and other U.S. elections in a move that will likely have consequences for the 2024 presidential campaign, according to a report from Axios.
The video platforms policy reversal comes as the 2024 presidential primaries heat up. Former President Donald Trump, who leads Republican primary polling, continues to challenge the results of the 2020 election, claiming widespread voter fraud took the election away from him and put President Joe Biden in the White House.

Youtube has been teetering on the edge of boycotts like a hundred times since it began and not once did it damage their usership. Nothing will and there will never be a replacement for it either.

Eventually YouTube will break things irreversibly, paving the way for a competitor to come along and say were going to offer you the service YouTube once did! Then it will become the new platform for a decade or two before the same thing happens.

No platform lasts forever.

Few companies can afford or offer what Google does. It's not a simple thing. A ridiculous amount is uploaded every minute.

It simple isn't possible to create a proper competitor unless one of the mega companies swoops in, and they wont be any different.

That was my point. One of the mega corps would see an opportunity and take it. It would start out as the service YouTube once offered but eventually go the same way.

Of course YouTube is very far away from that point, but the fact so many content creators are primarily based on Twitch nowadays should imply something.

Judging by the kind of shit Youtube allows to stay up some lunatics screaming about voter fraud seems almost quaint.
