They want to end democracy.

This is why they want to do it. They can say "this is taking too long" and announce whoever they want (a republican) as the winner.

"you can only count until midnight. anything after election day doesn't count." so, all those heavy R precinct with 200 votes get counted 100%, and all the cities get cut off after those same 200 votes. have 5 R-favored precinct to every D-favored, and boom, election stolen.

If only Democrats could find some way to force recounts and make elections take forever.

Combination of that, and trying some form of "well I'll just stay in office until the count is done, then I'll super duper totally step down when the full count is completed if I don't win!"
