Finally got around to playing this game and its is quite fun. I'm enjoying it very much, but MAN there are waaaaaay too many collectibles in this game. Like this game puts Lego games to shame in the amount of collectibles. Not Donkey Kong 64 amount, but still a TON.

I understand a lot of them are to do with easter eggs, lore, etc. And yes I understand they are not required to beat and enjoy the game, but for a 100% playthrough...my lord.

I don't get much time to game anymore (about 5-10 hours a week) and I would like to experience everything in this game since I love Harry Potter, but idk if I'll be able to without spending months on it.

It took me 77 hours to 100% complete first time through. And that was using guides to find the last few field guide pages, landing platforms, and collection chests I couldn't find on my own.

The Merlin Trials are the main problem - there are 95 of them (43 more than you need to max out your inventory space). And some of them won't show up on your minimap in spite of the fact that they're supposed to (some of the Ancient Magic Hotspots can glitch the same way). But other than those, if you're relatively careful and pay attention as you play (and use Revelio more or less constantly), you'll get most of what you need as you go.

The other main problem you may have if trophy hunting is using Ancient Magic attacks on every enemy type. There's 38 you have to hit - and it can be extremely annoying trying to keep track of which ones you've hit and which ones you still need.

Though the real problem is that the game glitches sometimes, and won't count when you collect a page (but it still disappears for good so you can't find it again). So you can be stuck and unable to go full completionist no matter how hard you try (at least not without reverting to an earlier save or starting a new game).

(And, of course, you have to get to the Map Chamber with every house - which takes about 20 hours each unless you're speedrunning it. Sooo...)

That's mostly only if you're going for the platinum trophy though. In-game completion (the Challenges tab) is a lot quicker (because you don't need all the Merlin Trials or Field Pages to complete it). And you don't even need full challenges complete to get the best ending. So it really only gets bad if you're trying to get all the achievements.

So yeah - if you don't have the time, play casually and don't even try to go for full trophies. If all you can manage is 5-10 hours playtime a week, it'll probably take you 4-8 months to do it.

The game's probably more fun that way anyway. Just explore at your own pace, play the story, and just engage with stuff you find interesting, not because you feel an OCD-fueled drive to "do literally everything".

Yeah. I gave up on those. I love the game but doing the main story and character side quests was enough for me.

It's only been out for about a month on older consoles. And won't even come out for a few more months on Switch.

And not everyone is an ADHD-fueled hummingbird constantly leaping to the newest released title on launch day and then abandoning them a week later. That kind of behavior tends to get really tiresome as people get older.

Ironically, I'm not. I've never read the books and I've never watched any of the films.

I mostly bought it because it looked like it might be a fun game. It's not a bad time waster if you're okay with open world collect-a-thon style games (aka the Ubisoft model).
