I just replayed DICE's flag game recently and I cant help but notice how insanely crisp and brilliant the graphics are. Like seriously, how are the graphics SO GOOD?
I played BF4 alongside CoD MWII remake side-by-side and the difference is so remarkable. Even the latest iteration of CoD using Activision's newest engine still looks like utter dogtrash compared to BF4's graphics

For the record, I've also just played Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk and CoD MW2 and Cold War.

None of these games satisfied me visually. The only close one is RDR2.

Heck, even BF3 looks better than all these other games! It seems games graphics never actually improved since PS3/Xbox360 era... if a game like BF3 can even look this visually stunning. AND also run at silky smooth 60+ fps. Is it just DICE's Frostbite engine or what?

I think BF3/BF4 is really proof video games have NOT improved visually at all since PS3/Xbox360 era.

Assassin's Creed for example, looks exactly the same in visual quality from AC3 all the way to AC Valhalla. It's like Ubisoft did absolutely nothing to notch up the graphics because they just used the same engine over and over. And these games just end up way larger in HDD space size.

Metro Exodus is a crazy 90GB in size yet looks like s*** compared to BF3 which only takes up 20GB of space. Like....What the hell man??????

It still holds up remarkably well at least on PC but it definitely doesn't look better than these newer games

Yes, it does. I suggest you go play BF3 vs another game for comparison to refresh up your memory.

And trust me Cold War looks a lot worse than my screenshot. And with worse fps. This is all settings maxed out.

End of the day, game graphics are controlled by the game engine. It doesn't matter if the game got released on the PS3 or PS5. If the devs never bothered improving the graphics, what's there to see a diff about?? And unfortunately most AAA publishers continued sticking to their derelict engines for years without an inch of care to improve it. Like I gave of my example of Assassin's Creed... you can go play Origins vs Valhalla. The graphics are literally THE SAME, even though one is on PS4 and the other is on PS5

If anything, the continuous obsession with "better graphics!!" is why everything looks worse.
Target a card that hardly anybody actually has, and it's just going to look like garbage on "plebian" GPUs and consoles, and arguably even worse when run at "max settings" on hardware that really shouldn't.

Every game had the graphics maxed out completely

I dont have photos from BF3 unfortunately but as you can see from any YT video and screenshots... some people have even claimed BF3 has better graphics than BF4.

Think about that. That's truly insane...

Because all fps look the same hehe

The last two gens did less with improving textures and more with improving lighting and particles
